So, the morning after yet another loss to the Sainters, what are the positives?

1. Zac was fantastic again - he is really developing along as a young ruck, so glad we've locked him in for another year.
2. Mzungu starred for most of the game - and he seems to have really solid kicking under pressure most of the time too!
3. Barlow's coming back!!
4. Mayne did such a great job on Goddard that the ranga thug had to resort to even more dummy spits and boorish behaviour than usual.
5. We had next to no input from Hilly, Balla, and a couple of other key players, yet we still stuck with one of the form sides off the back of a second six day break, and were even leading in fair chunks of the second and third quarters.
6. No significant injuries.
7. Duffield and Ibbo both had better games.
8. Harvs showed a willingness to change a few things around during the course of the game, instead of stubbornly sticking to the same plan we start with. Seeing Pav down back brought back memories of his AA CHB years!!
9. Our backline is actually fairly solid when we have Silver, Elvis and the Purple Muppett (Grover) all playing in the same side.
10. Harves interview on the Marngrook show on Thursday night - it was great, the most relaxed I've seen him on a media appearance!!

Mzungu,Barlow and Mayne starting to show something.

Barlow's already making a huge difference and watching him around the game suggests he's our next captain.

Didn't Cometti say something like For a guy with a limp, Barlow does very well for himself. He's lacking some touch and he looked stuffed by half time but his ability to get into the action is amazing particuarly compared to some of his team mates atm.

Hopefully this years not done yet but these games have to be good for setting him up for 2012.

Zac was the biggest positive for mine. He suddenly looks right at home at this level and will be a beast in 2 years.
Otherwise, Tendai, MB and Subes were impressive..

Freo did well for three quarters when most people (including myself) had them written off before the ball bounced.

The barometer is how well the younger/newer players are playing, not how well Pav is playing.

of the four teams directly below us, the dons are mostly likely to usurp our position, if they can beat the swans. north and melbourne are likely losers this week, you would think, and the doggies have the bye. it could pan out that this loss to st kilda made no difference to our top 8 aspirations, as long as the dons lose, so we start over next week.

we did very well to stay in the game for three quarters, but the cumulative effects of the past month of hard slog footy is affecting the endurance of our depleted team, as others have said. this end to the season is heart breaking, but as the adage goes, it's always darkest before the dawn, and 2012 is looking great, as long as the world doesn't come to an end as various ancient civilisations have predicted. which would be ****ing typical.

This brings images of the world burning and Freo fans cursing!

with our luck, it would happen after the siren in the granny with fyfey lining up 20 metres out and we're 5 points down. cue the mother****ing rapture.

Clarke and Mzungu were our BOGs. Really impressive.

I really liked Suban's game, apart from a couple of clangers. Good to see him kicking goals again.
