CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors are reportedly close to a trade that would send swingman Jalen Rose to Toronto. In exchange, Chicago would acquire Jerome Williams, Alvin Williams and Morris Peterson. WGN radio in Chicago is reporting that the deal could also include forward Donyell Marshall going to the Raptors with Toronto center Antonio Davis going to the Bulls.

Hmm..

Would love to see Donyell get out of that talent vacuum and generally shitty ball club, however Toronto are just as bad.

Bet he and Jalen regret leaving their previous clubs.........

CHICAGO (SI.com) -- Vince Carter could be getting some much-needed scoring help.

The Raptors and Bulls are discussing a trade that would send veteran forward Jalen Rose to Toronto, according to league sources. In exchange, Chicago would get back as many as three players from a group that includes Antonio Davis, Jerome Williams and Morris Peterson. Alvin Williams has also been mentioned as a possibility.

No Raptors or Bulls officials would comment on the reports. But sources confirm the talks are ongoing and that a deal may be close. WGN Radio in Chicago reported Friday afternoon that Rose would be traded for Jerome Williams, Alvin Williams, and Peterson. Other versions of the deal involve Davis, with the Bulls perhaps including Donyell Marshall, Marcus Fizer and Eddie Robinson.

Rose, a 6-foot-8 forward, would give the Raptors a much-needed second scorer to go with Carter. Last season, he averaged 22.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists while playing in all 82 games for the Bulls. It was the fourth straight season Rose averaged more than 18 points per game.

Rose got off to a slow start this season, however, and appears to have fallen out of favor with Chicago management. Two weeks ago, head coach Bill Cartwright removed him and point guard Jamal Crawford from the starting lineup for a game at New Orleans. Afterward a disappointed Rose said he felt like he was being made "a scapegoat."

"I've never said that I wanted to play for another team. I'm not saying that now," said Rose, adding that he doesn't believe anyone in the Chicago organization wants him gone. Rose was in the Bulls' starting lineup for their game against Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.

"I'd be lying to say I didn't think about it, I didn't analyze it, I didn't think about their roster, I didn't look at their schedule," he said about Toronto. "I just hope it's not an even bigger distraction, not only to the teammates, but to my fans. I got a ton of fans in Chicago that embraced me from day one."

Marshall said he didn't receive a call from Bull vice president John Paxson and didn't know anything about a possible deal.

Davis, in his 11th season, has said that he would not mind being traded from Toronto. He is averaging just 7.7 points for the offensively inept Raptors, who are scoring only 77.5 points -- the lowest in the league.

"The first thing I heard about that rumor was when I landed," said Toronto coach Kevin O'Neill, whose team arrived Friday evening for a Saturday afternoon game in New Jersey against the Nets.

Jerome Williams, a reserve forward for the Raptors and a fan favorite in Toronto, said he had been hearing the rumor all day but was hoping he would not be included.

"I live for the city of Toronto," said Williams, whose role has been reduced with the arrival of first-round draft pick Chris Bosh. "I heard a few things, but I assume it's just rumors."

Apparently Paxson has given Rose his "word" that he isnt going anywhere. In the next couple of days we will figure out if Paxson's word is worth ****.

Wouldnt mind getting rid of Rose, courses more problems than fixes them, also isnt a consistent scorer like last season. JYD would be a nice pick up but I dont like Mo Pete or Williams. Davis would obviously be good, give CC's somebody to learn from.

Wouldn't be too dissapointed if AD left the Raptors. Hasn't been doing much aside from providing limited presence and hauling down some boards. Leadership is abit questionable if you ask me. His heart isn't really in it. We would probably be a little weaker around the boards, though J.Williams and Bosh should be able to take care of that.

ESPN.com news services
The Toronto Raptors believe they have found Vince Carter some help.

The Raptors and Bulls agreed to a deal Saturday that will send Jalen Rose, Lonny Baxter and Donyell Marshall to Toronto for Antonio Davis, Jerome Williams and Chris Jefferies, ESPN's David Aldridge has learned.

The league office is closed for the holiday weekend, so the trade won't be announced until Monday at the earliest. League sources tell ESPN.com that Davis and Williams will not play for the Raptors tonight in Miami. Jefferies is on the injured list and would not be eligible to play anyway.

The Bulls are not scheduled to play this weekend.

Even though Rose struggled this season with the Bulls, he was the key player in the deal. Three times in his career he has averaged more than 20 points per game, including the 2002-03 season (22.1). He has a career scoring average of 14.4 points per game.

ESPN.com reported last week that the two teams were discussing a trade involving Rose, and were trying to get the right players involved so the deal would work under their respective salary caps. This was the third attempt between the two teams to get the deal done.

If Rose can find his range (37.5 FG%), he'll be an asset for the raptors...but if not the Rap's will continue to struggle to score and he'll be just another misfiring gunner on a bad team

Happy to have AD and JYD on board. Davis could really teach CC's a lot and hopefully they will listen and continue to get better. JYD is a hard worker, 1%er type guy who is the exact opposite of Rose. Not a bad deal.

Something definitely had to be done because our 4-12 start just isnt good enough.

Would have preferred to see Alvin Williams leave then JYD. We lost a ton of experience and lost our two top rebounders. I have good faith in Bosh, but I'd rather see JYD stick around a little longer to help Bosh out around the boards. Just hope Rose performs well. With AD and JYD off the list, expect Rose to be a starter, along with Bosh, who'll probably have to take more responsibility. I've got Carter, Bosh, Rose, A.Willliams, Palacio as starters. Curry and Lamond Murray to come off frequently off the bench

Poor trade for the Bulls.

They trade away a quality shooter (who is struggling, admittedly) and a potent scoring SF/F for a 35 year old whiny big man, and JYD.

Surely Chicago needed to add depth to their backcourt rather than robbing it to bring in yet another big man.

How long before Davis starts whining about having to play behind Curry?

AD never really had his heart in it at the Raptors.
I think one of the main reasons AD wanted to move out of Toronto was due to family reasons as well, his wife lives in Chicago area.

C: Curry
PF: Chandler
SF: Pippen
SG: Gill
PG: Crawford

Bench: loaded at forward spots - Davis, JYD, Blount, Fizer, Robinson...with Hinrich as the lone guard off the bench (with Mason and Jay Will on IR)

Robinson, Pippen and Gill will play guard as well but they are light on for guards and needed help in that area

I'm pretty sure Paxson said that JC will start at the 2-spot, or at least see significant minutes there.

Crawford fantasy owners rejoice.

Robinson, Pippen and Gill will play guard as well but they are light on for guards and needed help in that area [/B]

Only have themselves to blame as they traded away Hassal. Pip will miss games at some stage. Smell another trade?

With the West being as big as it is and the East being as small as it is, Im not that bothered that we have gone tall again. Not sure what Skiles is going to do with the Starting 5. If it were me I would have CC's at 4 and 5 with Crawford at the 2, Pippen running the point and Gill at SF. Pippen and Gill obviously switch defensively to suit height and quickness. AD may start though, Chandler hasnt being a certain starter all year?
