I think Geelong has a pretty good list, but the list will not win us a flag? We need to clean out some "dead wood" to be successful. The possible trade bait could be: David Clarke, David Spriggs, Kent Kingsley, Cameron Mooney, Peter Street, Brett Grgic, James Bartel... The list could go on & on. Any thoughts? It is no secret the cats need a big name forward to boost its list. It will be another lean year if we can't lure anyone down here.

i agree about mooney, street and grgic but i think clarke hasn't been ordinary and spriggs and bartel need another year.

remember spriggs has come back froma knee reco and bartel has suffered from second year blues, something lots of players go through.

i cant believe how quickly some people turn. it wasnt too long aggo both spriggsy and bartel were being hailed as the next big things. give them a break!

geelongs 2004 team

this would be my team for Geelong next year
B. J.Rooke M.Scarlett B.Graham
HB.B.Sanderson T.Harley C.Enright
C. D.Spriggs C.Ling H.Scotland
HF.G.Ablett J.Rawlings S.Johnson
FF.L.Davis K.Kingsley M.McCarthy
R. S.King J.Corey P.Chapman
Int. J.Kelly B.Moloney P.Chambers P.Riccardi
Emg. J.Rahilly H.Playfair J.Hunt

Trades - Street to dogs for scotland and davis in a 3 way deal that sees gilbee go to collingwood
Rawlings to Geelong with bartel and wojcinski going to hawthorn. hopefully that will allow us to keep our first round pick

Trade baits from your list: Clarke, Mooney, Street, Grgic..

Regarding the rest, Spriggs should be given another year to see how he performs, if Bartel wants to stay, he should also be given a period of time to prove himself. Kent Kingsley - I think geelong would be making a big mistake in trading him, he is a proven 50+ goals goalkicker, and would be a pertinent inclusion in the forward line as a 2nd or 3rd forward.

heres mine
B. J.Rooke M.Scarlett D.Milburn
HB.B.Sanderson T.Harley C.Enright
C. D.Spriggs C.Ling D.Wojinski
HF.G.Ablett J.Rawlings P.Chapman
FF. B.Graham L.Whitnall K.Kingsley
R. S.King J.Corey J.Rahilly
Int. P.Bowden S.Johnson M.Blake P.Riccardi
Emg. H.Playfair D.Johnson B.Moloney

ok so here how the team goes.
Whitnall rawlings & graham takes the better defenders leaving kingsley with a defender which may not be as good :D thus letting him kick goals. thne you got the crummers chappy, ablett to get them off the deck. the defense speaks for its self and the midfeild is jusdt pure class IMO

Whitnall and Rawlings? I wish! :D

David Clarke

Surely Clarkey is worth at least 2 first round draft picks. He clearly wants to leave for another team because when he plays he always tries his best to give the ball to the opposition.

Here is mine taking into account only 5 players can be traded under AFL rules. All my trades target our four major deficiences with salary cap being my only concern.

1. Trade Bartel (only if he wants to go) or Wojcinski to try and get a deal to nab us Croad.

2. Pick 22 + Spriggs + Mooney for Rawlings

3. Brown to Richmond
Street + Kingsley + Pick 6(Rich) to Western Bulldogs
Joel Bowden and Heath Scotland to Geel
Gilbee to the Pies

Team
B: D. Milburn M. Scarlett J. Rooke
HB: C. Enright T. Harley T. Croad
C: J. Bowden P. Chapman J. Bartel/D. Wojcinski
HF: G.Ablett J. Rawlings S. Johnson
F: B. Graham M. McCartey H. Scotland
Foll: S. King, J. Corey, C. Ling
Inter:B. Sanderson, P. Riccardi J. Kelly, A. Mackie

I think all are realistic targets the only problem being salary cap but we are only at about 94% and with delistings, BG going on the vets list, plus the guys we trade I think we could just sneak under. You'd have to be excited next year if this team ran out in round 1.

The only club dumber than Melbourne for drafting Grgic is Geelong for trading for him. BTW, thanks for Bizzell. I'm not knocking Geelong, but we know who won out of that trade, although there were picks involved.

Also, what would you want for Bartel?

Seems like most people are a bit of a wrap for David Clarke, don't get me wrong I'm not saying he's of no value but I don't think he fits the mould of the on ball brigade we are putting out on the paddock at the moment. His disposal is at best "erratic" He has good speed but constantly bombs the ball high into the forward line giving our guys no chance. Spriggs is in the same basket. Although, I would be disapointed to see Kingsley go as he has had no support up forward for the last two years and has even spent time in the "ressies" (where is the sense in that - your leading goal kicker for the last 2/3 years kicking the dew of in the magoos.) I am a wrap for Kent but he could be offered if Geelong pick up a couple of big forwards

Daniel Foster- Key Defender, should be able to grab a late 2nd-3rd round pick from a club like Port, who need key defenders right now. Also take into consideration that Foster is a SA boy, we jus might be able to pull something off.

Brent Grgic- I dont think we'll get anything from him. He'd prob be worth 3rd-4th round pick.

David Clarke- Clarkey has speed and is a reasonable ball-carrier. We might be able to get something from him from clubs who need a wingman/midfielder. Possible Carlton???

Cam Mooney- Carlton and WB hav been intrested in Moons. We could get a 2nd-3rd round pick for him. Or possibly trade him with Street for P.Bowden and a draft pick from the Bullies.

Street- Our most valuable player in the trade. We hav quite a few clubs who want Street (Essendon, Collingwood, WB, St Kilda).
