I am a freo supporter, apparently Simmonds comes out of contract at the end of this year. He's a ruckman/forward. Originally from victoria.

Would you guys be interested. If so what would you be willing to trade?

Simmonds is alright - no superstar so don't get too excited e.g Ottens.

Take your pick from Gaspar (cough cough) Chaffey, Fiora and Rodan.
Buy two get one free! - Hello, hello, Are you still there?

Wasn't suggesting Ottens, we have ample talls at the moment. Really, really missing an engine room though.

Of course Gaspar is not an option :) Chaffey is probably too old. Fiora we would consider, but would definately need a sweetener, and a nice one too. And Rodan is too short. We have lots of those.

Maybe a 3 way trade with another club. I'd imagine during trade week the dockers will be losing 1 tall +/- picks in the hope of getting some accountable, decent (no superstars - though we would love Coughlan - but it seems he's a tiger for life) midfielders.

considering Richmond's huge weakness is our midfield, there would be basically no chance the dockers would get any of our top 3 midfielders and after that it wouldnt be worth the dockers time really.

but feel free to take the duds off us for 3rd round 4th round picks!!

cheers

i thought simmonds was a West Aussie?
anyway we havnt forgotton what you put us through in regards to Gasper.
hello PSD :D

cheers!

We gave you a chance to get rid of Gaspar, and you passed it up. Can't really blame us for that. :) Though i can see your point. You did end up getting screwed.

you didnt give us a chance to get rid of him you tried to get him for very little due to the threat of taking him for nothing in the psd (which was an empty threat due to sallary cap restrictions - ask fabian francis), we are looking forward to doing that to every one else this year. if not for the dockers threat of taking gaspar for nothing we would not have been forced into the five year deal that is the problem now.

Take your pick.

I'm not quite sure what was offered for Gaspar. I can't remember, probably was a little under par considering our position. But in hindsight you probably should of let him go. Any team that finishes with the spoon will probably try similar tactics come trade week. Im certain you will.

Having a look through your list it seems that your midfield is almost as lacking as ours. So i can't see a direct trade happening. Of course freo would love Coughlan, but what team wouldn't. I think he is definately one of the untouchables for Richmond. Maybe a 3 way deal with another club. Or maybe some sort of deal with picks. Though now that your likely to get the spoon, i would imagine your picks would be too valuable.

Pick 36 and fiora for Simmonds and a fourth rnd pick

You imagine correctly - if Richmond traded their first two picks the place would be burnt to the ground by the supporters!
Would think that the only thing we would want from freo that would be on the table is picks.

your damn right we are going to use it to our advantage, look i for one dont hold any grudge against the dockers, i only hope we do as good out of finishing last as they did, even without snaring gaspar, simmonds would be a good pickup, we need a servicable ruckman, heaven knows mrs marsh isnt, but the tigers would have the upper hand in negotiations i would think.

I would have thought us swapping Gaspar for Simmonds with us picking up about $200K of his salary for the next 2 years would work.

Or maybe Gaspar and Fiora for Simmonds and 4th round pick with you picking up Gaspar's entire salary.

Dockers would definately consider Tivendale. Need a hard-running left footed midfielder who can kick more than 40m.

Simmonds for Tivendale sound pretty good to me,

It would allow us to then trade Ottens to Adelaide and then draft a young ruckmen.

I wasn't suggesting a direct swap. I think we definately lose out in that case. Big men are definately harder to find than midfielders.

I don't follow the tigers closely enough to know Tivendale's worth exactly, though i think some pick swapping might make the deal a little better.

of course im not expecting to get a non-biased view on here anyway :)

How old is Simmonds? 27?

Maybe Tivendale and a 3rd Round Pick considering Fremantle have both the Longmuir boys,

Who else would be up for trade at Freo?

In that case Chaffey & Gaspar (we pay half his salary) + 3rd Round Pick for Simmonds

or

Chaffey, Fiora, Gaspar + 3rd Round Pick for Polak

We won't take Gaspar as part of any deal. Its a negative for us. It would go something like Gaspar and 3rd round for our 5th round pick. He's a liability not an asset. :) But good on you for trying to offload him.

Yeah my lack of knowledge about your list is kinda coming to a front now. Can't really contribute to the discussion any more.

Trading asside do you guys think Coughlan will fully recover from his injuries?

I would say so, he was moving alright against the Hawks and did miss alot of football, was very proffessional in handling his injury, he should be right. If you forgot, Coughlan did just sign a 3 year deal with the Tigers.
