I thought Leigh Matthews said something quite insigthful about the first few years of Jonathan Brown's career, he said he really struggled with his confidence and would be to shy to impose himself on a contest, he said it took him 2-3 years to mature and lose his shyness and insecurities, plus gain confidence in his body.

I see Post in a similar light, he clearly has had confidence issues, as most young people do, but I can see once he crosses that line into a more mature and confidant man he will come on greatly.

I actually think he showed development in his game last week, he seemed more confidant and in control of his position than I've ever seen him before.

We just need Hardwick to play him down back for the rest of the year, to give him a boost into next year.

Agree with that. Grigg needs to do the same, get a little more physical in terms of presence and not shy away but make the contest and feed off like Martin.

Post IMO specifically needs to develop his legs and body like Richo and he will gain more confidence from the balance/strength and physical presence it will bring because we know the guy can mark!!

he's definately taken a couple of giant steps forward greggy, I'd just about given up on him. He contested very well on sunday, very focussed on the pill and his composure and decision making with pill in hand was good. quite agile too. Alot to like about his efforts in recent weeks:thumbsu:...dunno about JB...just let him do his thing...

His Confidence will come when

Gets Fitter & Faster & Stronger
Really needs to put on another 5-7 kgs of Muscle which will give him the confidence to bust packs open if he doesnt mark the ball.

Also Needs to be played in the senior team unconditionally to feel as though he is an integral part of it , Not be in 1 week & out for 3

I have been really happy with hardwick so far except for the fact that he hasnt given enough games to Gourdis & Post :(

Lethals comments really made me think of Post, it gave me hope that the penny can drop for guys at different times, and when it does they don't look back. And yeah not sure if he's the next JB :) but Brown's a great example of what can happen to a guys confidence once his body develops.

Gourdis needs to improve his kicking or we have seen the last of him. Its horrible. Real shame as athletically he is amazing. Give him Posty's skills and we would have one of the best backman in the league. Still has another year to get it right but a long way off the pace.

Gourdis is an Athlete playing football, Post is a footballer playing football

He looked very good on sunday, its a shame about griggs not playing in the ruck though.

The guy can take a grab, kick both feet which he has shown at times, and play both ends of the ground as well as pinch hit in the ruck. Just like Vickery he has the tools to become a very good player, just needs the confidence and mental hardness to carry it out now.

I think it just shows again that we need to be patient with KP players. How many posters here wrote off Rance and Vikcery and Post. I think Posty will come through and be at least a very serviceable decent backman.

This is mainly because he can mark, he is a good size, he can spoil and he can kick on both feet. I never realised he had such a good left foot until the last few weeks.

The only thing that has annoyed me this year from Dimma is that he has been giving games to McGuane and Thursfield ahead of Post. I understand we don't want too much youth down there at once but I really couldn't care.

Has looked good the last few weeks and I hope he makes CHB his own. Could make it very hard for Astbruy to get back into the side as a KPD.

Makes me laugh when I hear that Hardwick should have played Post instead of Thursfield & McGuane but then we hear that Tuck should have got more games to protect our young midfield.

I dont think our supporters know what they want and no I'm no fan of McGuane or that rapt on Thursfield either.

Post has talent, and good athleticism. I really hope he comes on, he would really deepen our squad if he makes it. He can play forward and back, good general skills so can pinch hit as a roaming mid type and can pinch hit in the ruck. Awesome utility type potentially.

I must admit I was frustrated with Rance and Vickery screwing everything up in their first few seasons under the banner of 'games into youth' while Post had to learn in the 2nds not getting his chance until he is ready.

But the way all 3 are coming along now I am quite impressed with the forsight the coaching staff have shown with the different development paths they have chosen.

Obviously Post's confidence and work rate were not of AFL standard while Vickery/Rance already had that covered, and only needed AFL experience to develop them properly, while Post needed to show through dominating vfl that he is ready.

Im gaining alot of confidence in our coaching staffs ability to develop our KPP's.

Would love to see Post roll up after summer with a build similar to Rance and Dea. I think he would come into his own in the next 2 years.
And am loving the developement of most of our young blokes at this stage.

The thing that impressed me most about Posty was how willing he was to go onto his left when required and they weren't little 10 meter chips either he was giving them a fair whack and wasn't shanking them either. 2 sided KPP are valuable and its kind of sad when your KPP can kick fine off both feet, yet Nahas a small forward/running mid would rather jump off a cliff than even consider the prospect of kicking on his left.

I've always thought he'd make it. He seems to improve with every game and show his natural abilties. His attack at the contest is an area which has improved out of sight.

The thing I'm most excited about next year is our developing talls. We have some very good key back candidates for 2012. Rance, Moore, Thursfield, Astbury, Post, Grimes have all shown enough to suggest they can be capable AFL defenders. The competition for the 3 key spots in defence will be very healthy.

trade him while he has value not up to it got 4 or 5 kicked on him and everybody is raving how he has improved na

That's a terrible post, no pun intended. :thumbsd:

If you can't see anything in him then you have a much different opinion to most people, including the club. What part of his game is so bad considering he has has only played a handful of games?

Check the alex rance and Ty Vickery threads from last year.. Silly.. Post is developing nicely as was rance and as was Ty he will be fine
