Post Game - 1st Semi Final - Carlton v West Coast

Great game from the boys today... that's what finals footy is about!! I'm absolutely shattered right now as im sure all of the boys and supporters are, but that was so awesome. Hope Murph and Robbo and Robbie are all told how great they did tonight.

The hunger is still there guys. Imagine how much this is gonna drive the guys over the preseason. I'm gonna try and sleep through til march now...

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I don't buy in to this whole 'great effort by the blues tonight'. I fully expected us to win and I think that we are better than them. Just because we finished in a lower position on the ladder, doesn't mean that we shouldn't have won.

Yes the loss was brave being in Perth and all, but we wouldn't be hearing the same if we were a Collingwood side.

That took heart and passion to come back like we did. It was seemingly over at various points in the game but to come back and back and back and kick the last 3 of the match. How can you not love that.

What a great effort..All the best to Thornton, bit disappointed Hampson didn't get a gig over davies but o well...Next Year bigger and stronger!

I think it's important to acknowledge the terrible umpiring tonight. If we lost by 40 points, it obviously wouldn't have been an issue, but given the final margin the reality is it was the deciding factor. I usually don't care too much about umpiring. A few bad decisions usually happen, effecting both sides, but tonight they put in an absolute howler and it clearly favoured one side. We were well and truly Razored.

Well, I guess it was always going to be hard to win #17 from 5th. Not winning a flag hurts... and hurts bad. Hopefully we can use that hurt, to make sure we lock in a top-4 spot next year. Having a shorter injury list at finals time would be a bonus as well. There's plenty of talent and upside in our list. Just need to get injured players on the part, and continue to develop the talent we have.

Disappointed, but proud of the way they fought it out, and optimistic for the future. Go Blues.

A Great effort by the team, which again really lacked a forward structure, really felt that the decision to play Davies ahead of Hampson was a poor one, we have lost players of size multiple times this year, and Hampson would have offered some relief to Warnock and play deep forward, particularly with O'Alphin offering very little to the team.

Davies is a battler, you really have the question the logic behind his selection, there are various other players that would have provided us with a much better outcome.

V poor second quarter but what a fight by the boys. Real shame we couldnt have a fit Gibbs and Kreuzer, but oh well.

I did not think 2011 would be our year and I am only a supporter but I am so disappointed I don't know whether to saddle up again next year. The game/ball is designed to be a little unpredictable and I can accept the need for luck when it comes to injuries but the thought that second rate umpiring can cost you the world is hard to take.
I do not believe they are any closer to improving this area of our game. Everybody knows that good umpires go unnoticed and yet this panel rate an umpire that everybody knows loves attention - SHEEZ
I lived without footy to certain extent for most of this season when overseas, maybe ones better off just getting out and doing something yourself than supporting the AFL - yeah I am shatterd
The bumbers were bumblers - this was the one that I wanted. Bloody injuries

Relentless stuff from Carlton. West Coast were very tough around the ball, and Kerr and Priddis had very good games. I thought Henderson and Laidler were fantastic for you guys, and thought without them that West Coat would have scored much more heavily.

I think in general play West Coast marginally outplayed Carlton, but Carlton's heart was immense - Kudos.

We showed them. All in all, we've had a very successful season.

Gee I thought someone had fed Polly dynamite instead of a cracker. The bird is alive and it is good to see a Carlton supporter return - just have to go down to the registry office and get that name changed for 'unlisted' to Carlton

Respect to the CFC, great game and went to the wire. Nothing in it and maybe if Judd had been a tad better it goes your way, but the guys a champ and you will be even better next year, Henderson is a very good backman!

So proud of our boys tonight. They were completely out of legs with 10 minutes to go but then found something i didnt know they had, and JUST couldnt bring it home. Earnt the respect of the footy public.

All in all should be considered a successful season. Congrats to Ratten - with plenty of improvement still left in us.. very promising in the hunt for #17..

Besides that free kick, what did Davies actually do wrong?

I think the frustration is not so much about Davies and more so about the MC and the decision to play him ahead of many others that could have had more influence on the game. Tuohy included.

Yes umpiring wasn't great but it went both ways and had negligible effect on the result. Well done to West Coast. Well done Blues.

I cant cop this negligible effect on the result rubbish. We lost by 3 points!!!! They got a goal without the ball going back to the middle. Shuey holding the ball...play on and goal. Duigan arms chopped...play on and goal. Kennedy free kick in goalsquare...goal. Walker manhandled 10m out with 20 seconds to go....play on.

I think we lost the game at selection. Davies was ineffectual. Hampson would have provided an enormous amount in the ruck and pinch hitting forward and would have allowed Irish to play as a permenant forward. Nearly every Carlton supporter I know can't understand why Davies keeps getting games, especially ahead of Hampson, JR, Tuohy???

Really proud of the effort that the boys put in tonight, they never gave up.

I really hate bagging the umps, but FFS they were shocking tonight. Not sure if they cost us the game, but they certainly had an impact. I've been saying all year that Razor hates us, and tonight he proved me right.

I am disappointed by the result, but very proud of how Carlton played tonight. A pinch of luck and we would be in the preliminary final next Saturday. Any doubts some supporters have over Ratten and the direction he is taking the team should've been extinguished by tonight's performance.
