Defence: Goddard, Fisher, Cornes, Drummond,Malceski, Raines, Grimes, Res: Hill, Petrenko

Midfield: Dal Santo, Bartel, M. Murphy, J. Selwood, Foley, Rich
Res: Sidebottom, Robinson

Ruck: Hille, McIntosh
Res: Jacobs, Bock

Forward: Deledio, Richo, Brennan, Fevola, Krakouer, Higgins, Ziebell
Res: M Brown, Gumbleton

the players i probably wouldnt have in my team are highlighted

hill - have him on field or dont have him, way too much for a bench player imo
c. bock - no chance of playing
richo - age is a worry
brennan - injured
Krakouer - imo the forward of the 220ks (skippy, krakourer, hggins, hentshel) who is least likely to hold his spot
ziebell - not guaranteed a game, coached by laidley
gumbleton - injury prone

my team

backs: goddard enright c. cornes adcock mundy raines grimes
res suban broughton

mids hodge j. selwood gibbs boak butler hill
res robinson beams

rucks sandilands mcintosh
res currie jacobs

fwds Franklin delidio j. brown fevola t. cloke higgins skipworth
res brown ballantyne

is this team better than lids12, hes in my league and i really want to beat him

I reckon (i do not know):

Grimes now a risk - hardly a broken toenail. Back related stuff causing you to miss 3 weeks is not a good or predictable thing

too many big forwards. They go OK, but can go completely missing.

very freo freidnly rookies. and butler often gets injured. But you would know best being a coaster.

I think I'd marginally prefer Lids 12's team to be honest, though no doubt you'd have a few big weeks with this team along the way

yeh, grimes is the main problem for me, if it looks like hell only miss 1-2 games ill keep him tho, anymore and hill goes to backs and rich comes into mids

freo rookies: lots are going to get games

sam butler: inuries is a massive worry but a very good player for under 300k

So With Grimes being im many of our teams what are we thinking of doing as above i think im moving hill to def and rich into mid. but other moves ive seen are.
Grimes out for pettard
Grimes out for D johnson
Keep grimes and use suban and or petrenko till he comes back.
Grimes out for tom collier
Grimes out for Hurley
Has his injury made you think about the whole structure of your team or is it just a little speed bump.
Its made me think about my team but if i start again im not going to have any hair left

No point keeping grimes in when you could have someone else in playing games making you money, have petrenko or suban hopefully play 3 games early and go up in value, hold onto them till grimes has played 2 games, then trade him in just before he's about to jump in value.

My near final team till thursday before round 1.....

BACKS: Gilbee, Bock, C Cornes, Johncock, Malceski, Houlihan, Rance - Suban, Petrenko
MIDS: Ablett, Bartel, Cross, Sewell, Gibbs, Rich - Robinson, Beams
RUCKS: H Mac, Kreuzer - Vickery, Currie
FORWARDS: Harvey, Pavlich, Delidio, Lucas, Veszpremi, Higgins, Yarran - Brown, Grant

Advice welcome.....The ones not bolded i think are pretty spot on, the one's in bold i think there may be better options but am not sure and would value any advice. I have very little $ left in the kitty to trade up with, under 10k i think. Cheers

have changed 80% of my players since this morning as a result, at least 20 times.

Feels like I'm having an affair!

Changed my team now to account for the Grimes incident:

Defence: Goddard, S. Fisher, C. Cornes, Drummond, Malceski, Raines, Hill
Res: Suban, Petrenko

Midfield: Bartel, Dal Santo, M. Murphy, J. Selwood, Foley, Rich
Res: Robinson, Beams

Ruck: Hille, McIntosh
Res: Currie, Spencer

Forward: Franklin, Deledio, Richo, Fevola, Higgins, Krakouer, Ziebell
Res: Brown, Sidebottom

Not too sure about Franklin or Krakouer or whether i should have sidebottom at all?

Looking towards similar players to a lot of posters, but any feedback (especially around subs) would be great:

Defence: B. Goddard, L. Gilbee, C. Cornes, R. Houlihan, A. Raines, N. Malceski, S. Hill
Res: N. Suban, J. Petrenko

Midfield: C. Judd, A. Goodes, J. Selwood, B. Gibbs, T. Tuck, D. Rich
Res: L. Anthony, D. Beams

Ruck: D. Cox, H. McIntosh
Res: A. Graham, J. Spencer

Forward: B. Harvey, M. Pavlich, B. Deledio, M. Richardson, S. Lucas, S. Higgins, M. Brown
Res: C. Yarran, N. Heyne

Cheers :)

Ill Try my best:
Backs - Strong backline, my only comment would be that im just not sure having both fisher and goddard is a good thing. i myself have been changing them constantly. Also drummond has struggled to play out a year, however his massive scores are always hard to resist.
Mids - Solid, personnaly i wouldnt have dal santo but thats just me. Foley should break out.
Rucks - Good. Because everyone including me has cox. so if it works it should pay off big
Forwards - If your concerned about franklin upgrade him to pavlich yet i think its hard to resist his ability (he will kick another ton). i would change both sidebottom and krakouer

Now my team
Changed it everyday for the past month....
I think im close to my final team, Ive placed players in bold that i believe are over the line for round 1. Please comment on whole team i take all commnets on board.

BACKS:
L.Hodge, B.Goddard, C.Cornes, N.Malceski, R.Houlihan, A.Raines, J.Petrenko

looks like a very strong team overall.

now for mine, and i'm in a dilemma of sorts.

backs. goddard, gilbee, cornes, adcock, raines, houlihan, hill, em suban and dawson. dawson because he's guaranteed a start r1.

mids. ablett (c) judd (vc) gibbs, haselby, tuck, rich, em beams, anthony

rucks, petrie, sandilands, em white, sellar

forwards, buddy, deledio, chapman, fev, higgins, krakouer, yarran, em ziebell, m brown,

dilemma is $105,500 left. do i use it or save it???
any thoughts greatly appreciated

Ask yourself if you might have a few too many tigers in there. Don't we already have enough invested in Richo slotting one from 14m out?

Solid backline and you're using the same logic as me with Dawson. He won't be a big scorer, but he will play and increase slightly in value.

Midfield is very good but I'm still not sold on Tuck long term.

Good forward line too, but too much risk maybe? Fevola (inconsistent), Chapman (hamstrings), Krakouer (unknown quantity!) and Yarran (will be play consistently?) Maybe look at trading one of two of these guys. Why not use your spare $100k and upgrade Fevola to another blue chip forward?

My side is almost settled now.

B: Goddard, C.Cornes, Drummond, Malceski, Houlihan, Raines (S. Hill, Suban, Dawwon)
M: Bartel, Hodge, Judd, Selwood, Hasleby, Rich (Robinson, Anthony)
R: Cox, Leunberger (Currie, Graham)
F: Harvey, Pavlich, Chapman, Deledio, Higgins, Skipworth, Yarran (T. Walker, M. Brown)
Change:63,500

- Originally had Ablett, but decided he was eating too much coin, so went for the Bartel/Selwood combination who will score just as well, if not better.
- Still undecided about whether or not to go Cox or Cox-less! He's verrrrry expensive and perhaps the money could be better invested elsewhere, but also a proven point scorer.

I like everyline, I'd keep Cox, although I don't have him in my side, but he's a proven quality performer! Only thing I'd change would be not to have drummond and chapman in the same side, Chappy's hammies worry me so I'd upgrade him with that extra cash you have!

Now onto my side, that I've changed a good 1,000 times!

Decided to load up midfield and backs, as the bigger forwards take a while to get going and it's not as clear cut who's going to perform yet. I also see some good value for money in some of the cheaper forwards! I'm backing Yarran in to play atleast 11 games this year so I'm not too worried about starting him as 6th forward for the start of the year!

Hodge worries me a tad, just because Hawthorn aren't afraid to rest players if they're a little sore and he does have points hanging over his head!

Would muchly appreciate any other thoughts or advice.

Solid Backline.
High Potential In the midfield but also a lot of risk involved with the young players.
Excellent Rucks.
And Fairly Solid forward line. Not too sure about lucas though.

My initial thought was...where have I seen this team before? Then I realised your bench was a bit different to the last 3000 teams. ;)

okay, ive changed this team around and ive come to the conclusion that i'll never ever be happy with it...however...here is my latest draft

backs: Goddard, Scotland, Cornes, Adcock, Houlihan, Raines, S. Hill
emerg: Suban and rance
pretty happy with that...just question marks over rains and adcock...maybe malceski a better choice?

mids: Bartel, judd, selwood, kerr, knights and beams
emerg: robinson and anthony/swift
gotta admit im not certain about kerr

Ruck: Hille, Mcintosh
emerg: pyke and currie
yeah the no cox thing is a factor...hopefully im compensating

Fwd: Delidio, brown, chapman, roughead, t cloke, higgins and skippy
emerg: mitch brown and walker
love chappy, but im thinkin about downgrading him perhaps and saving a bit

so yeah, have a look and any opinion would be greatly appreciated

In my opinion I'd be removing Kruezer for maybe Tippett, as I think they have a similar style of play and both are likely to go up forward. He might be the next best and will save you some money to spend later on.

Now here goes for mine.

Never done SC or DT before, been focusing on my SC more as it seems like a better system overall. I'm pretty happy with my team and have $49,500 which is a nice spare bit of cash to keep around.

Agree with the comments above about Cousins, hoping he can return to top form. 460K is not a huge price to pay for him. I originally went with the Hille / other ruckman avenue but thought Cox was too good to pass.

Defenders: Hodge L, Gilbee L, Cornes C, Houlihan R, Bartram C, Collier T, Hill S
Res: Petrenko J, Dawson Z

Midfielders: Ablett G, Bartel J, Judd C, Selwood J, Cousins B, Rich D
Res: Otten A, Anthony L

Rucks: Cox D, McIntosh H
Res: Currie D, Graham A

Forwards: Franklin L, Deledio B, Porplyzia J, Rioli C, Higgins S, Hentschel T, Yarran C
Res: Walker T, Brown M

Just want to know if there is anything that looks really bad, or maybe an injury I haven't read about yet. Porplyzia will be switched if he is not ready for Round 1.

Thanks for any opinions.

Houlihan, Bartram, Collier and Hill all starting in the backline is as risky as they come. 50% of ur mids come from geelong which is a real worry, id consider swapping selwood for gibbs. Forward line looks fairly decent but even if Porpz is ok for rd 1 id still get rid of him, those shoulders will haunt you. No complaints with your rucks. You have some unique picks which will do you no harm. Not a bad team.

My team:

Backs: B.Goddard, L.Gilbee, C.Cornes, A.Mackie, R.Houlihan, A.Raines, S.Hill (J.Petrenko, N.Suban)
