B: Carazzo Thornton Teague
HB: Campo Whitnall Lappin
C: Simpson Stevens Salopek
HF: Russell Waite Walker
For: Fisher Fevola Betts
Foll: French Koutou: Murphy
Inter: Bentick, Bryan, Hartlett, Blackwell

Theories:
1. Retain Whitnall and Fevola, too many gaps in the KP if traded.
2. Pick a tall at no. 4, and let them mature with the Bullants
3. Murphy with pick 1, and Salopek with pick 1 in the pre-season draft

The above team highlights even with the draft picks our road to recovery is going to be a long process.

.

the backline will not be the same as it was this year.

B. Livingston Thornton Carrazzo
HB.Camporeale Kennedy/Ryder Teague
C. Simpson Stevens Walker
HF. Kouta Whitnall Waite
F. Betts Fevola Fisher
FOLL. French Goddard Bentick
INTER. DeLuca Salopek Russell Murphy
EMERG. O'hAilpin Bryan McGrath

Murphy to be taken with no.1 pick
Kennedy or Ryder at no.4 ( hopefully can make impact like Rivers in first year )
Salopek to be taken in PSD
Goddard involved in trade ( possibly Lappin & pick 20 ) Maybe Houlihan as well
Like to see Kouta float across half forward next year & be part of a rotating midfield when required

Oops left out Scotland! Replace with Russell as he may not be ready for AFL next year. Russell emergency instead of McGrath!

whitnall won't be playing CHB, he was only plugging gaps this year
russell to start off in the backline, played most of 2005 there
that backline still lacks height, i think livo will start the season there
no mcgrath, he was pretty handy in 2005

with carlton's 1st year players, especially midfielders we generally let them develop at the bullants before giving them a senior run (betts is the exception). i'd expect this to be the same in 2006

FWIW- i would like to see walker play on a HBF.

If Whitnall is retained, he should play Centre Half Back the rest of his career. Reads the play very well but gets double teamed at Centre Half Forward and isn't athletic enough to overcome that. Maybe with a better team and delivery he could be a CHF again.

If you get a quick Centre Half Forward opposition player then you move Thornton to them instead and have Lance float. I love Teague's play but I'm not so sure he'll be a regular next year.

If Lance is gone, it might be an idea to see if you can tie Polak into that deal as the Backline needs some real re-working. I'm not sure Livingston is going to work out. It'd be a good move to get Kennedy for CHB/FB, especially if Lance goes, but you don't want to rush him in either.

lance in the backline- teams will exploit his lack of pace as they did this year with teague

anyone can run around getting cheap kicks- lance is too valuable to be doing this.

Kennedy for CHB/FB or any other drafted player is not going to be ready to step into afl level from round 1 KPP take time to develop, they can't be carried or eased into things like midfielders can so hartlett can step up or we are left with livo

all fwd's get double teamed, the key to beating this is quick ball movement in the middle.

lets look at who lance can match up on and be confident they won't kick a bag on him. lance is great and i want him to stay but not as a backmen.

welsh, biglands, perrie, hentschel
brown, bradshaw, merett
tarrant, rocca
lloyd, lucas
pavlich, mcpahrlin
ottens, kingsley, ablett, playfair, gardiner
willimas, croad, franklin, roughead, dixon
rocca, thompson, petrie
neitz, robertson, miller
tredrea, boragn, lade
richo, strafford, knoble
reivolde, hamill, gherig, kosi
hall, goodes
hunter, lynch, gardiner
grant, johnson,

I think Stevens and Kouta should play on the ball, with Bentick, Simpson and Walker across the middle.

If we pick up a midfielder through trades or the PSD (e.g. Bartel of Salopek) then move them in and take Kouta out and use him as more of an impact midfielder and give him the rest of his time on HF or at CHB as team balance dictates.

I'd like to see Walker play out a year in the middle.

Rivers was in his 2nd year when he won the Rising Star.

fisher, fev, kouta, whitnall and waite in the one forward line will cause havoc for all teams. at least 2 of these players will have a clear height and weight advantage on their opponents.

Hartlett Livingston Kouta
Carrazzo ThorntonHurn
Simpson Stevens Walker
Waite WattsMurphy
Fisher Fevola Betts
French Salopek Bartel/Power
Bryan Bentick Scotland Russell

Emg Blackwell McGrath Teague O'hailpin

Probably dreaming with these trades.....but i want them! :D

Picks 1 & 4 Murphy and Hurn
Bartel or Power in PSD
Campo and Houla for Salopek
Sporn and pick 20 for Watts
Whitnall for Pick 11
Lappin for pick 17-25

You overpaying for Salopek and Watts. I want to keep Sporn as he is a young defender who if given a good run with injuries will improve greatly. I think Maybe Houla for Salopek or Houla + 3rd/4th round draft pick for Salopek (remember we have pick 1 in PSD!!!)

No getting enough for Whitnall...want an average player with that Pick 11
Lappin is about spot on.

Hurn is ready made, he'll be on the HBF for us if we get him.

I can assure you that if you pick up Bunga Hurn, he WILL be in your round 1 lineup. He is a midfield gun with a capital G. Don't ******** around, just PLAY him.
