Kade Simpson - approximately the same age as Camporeale when he made the AA side and had his best year in the AFL. Kade has the hardness and the game to take the spot of someone like Kane Cornes, Harvey or Ling and is a goalkicker who catches the eye with his blistering runs. Kade will only get better playing wing or on the ball alongside Stevens, Gibbs, Murphy, Judd and Scotland.

Andrew Walker - muppets on here call him a dud and criticise his decision making and kicking. But he's a gun and has the most upside of any of our young midfielders with his speed, aggression, hard running and accountability. Would be a soda to get an AA gig as a defender after the jobs he did on players as different as Robertson, S.Grant and Croad. Walker is closer to being a "poor man's Judd" than any other player with his combination of accountability, X factor, speed and size when he's 190 cms and 95 kgs. A dud wouldn't turn Gray and Brogan inside out three times in a row and hit an unmarked Setanta with beautifully weighted kick on the run.

BOG against the runners-up.

Setanta O'Hailpin - he could be anything if we left him at CHB/F. His efforts in round three where he didn't lose a one on one contest and attacked off HBB played a huge role in our come back. EVERY club would be ecstatic if they had a 199 cm man mountain with speed and agility who showed promise in the ruck, full back and kicked 13 goals in 2007. Matt Egan became AA after switching codes in his teens, so Setanta's best football is still two years away.

Heath Scotland - just a gun ball winner, but faces stiffer competition to knock off the likes of the Cornes bros, Ling and Corey for a spot.

Marc Murphy and Gibbs - just speak for themselves.

Nick Stevens, Waite and Fisher are my wild cards if they can fire and stay on the park.

Happy to be proven wrong General but here's my opinion:

Simpson - maybe. Needs more consistency but good chance

Walker - I love the guy but his decision making and disposal skills are not up to speed. I would be hapy to be proved wrong but can't see it happening in the short term. You are however on the money on his "upside" - could be the new Kouta if he gets his "shi-t" together.

Setanta - stil learning the game. Not yet

Murphy/Gibbs - still developing. Few years away.

Scotland - good chance.

Stevens and Judd - very good chances

Roughie is Carazzo - plays anything like last year and will be close

I would still say that Setanta and Gibbs are a couple of years away from being contenders for AA contention.
Setanta-still needs a couple of years. I wouldn't go putting too much pressure on him now as you have to remember he hasn't been playing the game very long.
Gibbs-still a couple of years away too but will improve lots this year getting consistent goes in the middle.
I think that Walker could be a possibility because apparently he is one of the hardest working guys on our team, and if he can improve his kicking, paired with his amazing athleticism, he will be a star.
As for the others, i would say that they are probably a good chance

Please, Simmo tries his guts out and is a good footballer but in his hey day Campo was a gun.
Simmo may well be all Australian 1 day but he is not in the class of Campo even though the rat defected.

carazzo is a way better chance than andrew walker. in fact adam bentick is as well.

He'll be hard pressed to get a game this year for Carlton. Unfortunately for AB, if you ranked the players from 1 to 38, I suspect he'd be somewhere between 20 and 25.

What used to frustrate me the most about Campo was when he'd run behind the person with the ball at a stoppage getting the easy kick. I reckon he'd get between 3-7 kicks per game using this method.

I reckon Simmo does that a bit too HBF. Not as much, but does it a bit. Campo was terrific in his prime. If Simmo hits the same levels I'll be delighted.

Only Judd and Fevola are All-Australian quality for mine.

Hence the title Potential first time AA players. ;)

If Matt Egan can become an AA CHB, there's no reason Carlos can't do likewise with the improvement he showed this year and another two years of coaching.

Walker has alot more talent than Carrazzo at the same age.

Carlos is so far off AA it is ridiculous.

Walker has alot more talent than Carrazzo at the same age.

Carrots is a natural footballer, Tex more of an athlete. Carrots is proactive in that he knows where to go to get the pill, Tex is more reactive. Very different players but for mine, if I had to choose one, Carrots because of his instinctive ball winning ability.

That's being pretty kind to the bloke. He tries hard... Michael Bolton tried hard with his music career as well.

good point. Carazzo is a highly talented player. Any player that can win the amount of footy he does at this level must be able to play. Another stand out year by him in 2008 with even greater effeciency by foot could see him earn All-Australian.

A 24 year old Walker will #$#$# all over Carrazzo and achieve more than Carrots did this year. ;)

You just can't compare their talents when one has that X factor and can pull off the impossible goal or turn on a six pence before running away from his opponents with the ball. Walker has better hands and Carrazzo isn't exactly a Darren Jarman by foot or Greg Williams after he put Bower in hospital in round 18 with a huge brain explosion at CHB.

Setanta is no Bannister, but he will be a gun. :thumbsu:

I have no idea what you are talking about mate!

Until Tex stops turning the ball over as frequently as he has been, he will never be A Grade. Carrots has a better understanding of his game, therefore makes less mistakes because he attempts what he knows he can achieve. Tex has massive upside, but I doubt he will ever live up to the pick 2 tag IMO.

There will always be people who no nothing about the game.

TEX SMASHES Carrazzo, obliterates him all over the park.

CARRAZZO wouldn't be able to do one tenth the things walker does, not a friggen chance in hell. Most ridiculous comments ever.

CARRAZZO......pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!
