After watching West Coast play (well, dominate) the Doggies and in recent games with the return of young Ashley Hansen in recent weeks I started thinking he plays a some what similar style to Richmond bright white hope Cleve Hughes.
Hughes is a Tarrnet, Hansen, perhaps even Hentschelish type who prefer the strong leading and taking marks on the wing than strong contested marks in the 50.
Perhaps this is the forward line Wallace is building, to compliment our improving midfeild which in theory should be very strong in a few years based on the WCE model.
Gary Lyon wrote a article in recent days on the very issue, similar to what I was thinking. He stated how with the return of Hansen as the CHF if gives Lynch much more space in side the forward 50/square and allows the CHF to link play ahead of him.
Infact, a WCE forward line of: Lynch, Hansen, Hunter, Embley, Cousins & Staker/Chick/Cox/Sampi/Armstrong actully looks pretty solid, when you consider its been called the WCE weak point for a long time now.
Without the likly hood of a Roughead, Kennedy, or Gumbleton/Thorp to come into the list any time soon is this the direction perhaps Plough is building our forward line? With Hughes as this link type CHF/Forward flank and Schultz and/or Richo as the Lynch type square player?
