Maybe our recruiting isnt that horrible afterall.

Hentschel (pre-season draft) & Jericho (#30) are steals for us.

Jericho looks like a top 10 pick talentwise, imagine when he bulks up and gets some experience. Hes not tall enough to hold a key position but on a flank or even maybe at full forward he can be amazing. Hes got great hands, good kick, good skills, fast.

Hentschel - This guy is big enough to hold a key position. Hes soo smooth, hes improved alot since last season. Hes got good hands, hes strong, good skills... could hold a key position for us or be that second tall in defence. Im not too sure if hes quick enough at full back, i'll have take a closer look at him. If he can continue hes awesome form maybe we can allow Ken McBreakoutseason to continue up forward where he has been dominant 2 out of the last 3 games.

If Fergus Watts turns out as good as you guys say he will, maybe we will have to only tank for 1 season :p

my god,
what a difference a win over the ferals makes!

The recruiting staff and ayres gets praise on the same day, I am hearing the twilight zone music in my head

:D

Credit where credit is due. Ayres was FANTASTIC last night. His preparation and match day coaching was first class. We often accuse him of lacking imagination but his forward line last night was a work of genius.

I think our recruiting later in the draft has been very good over the years but its our early picks that let us down. Ken McGregor was taken with pick 75 in 1998 draft, Johncock was pick 67 in 2000 draft, Hentschel was a pre-season pick and Jezza was pick 32. Thats some good drafting with late picks.

I went to see Fergus at Richmond oval yesterday and the kid is something special. His pack marking and just his physical presence is unreal for one so young. If the ball comes in his direction you know that he is either going to mark it or he is going to bring the ball to ground. His recovery is not too bad and he has that awareness of whats happening around him and fires out a handball to a team mate. If he is not crashing packs and taking marks he is getting into his opponent. A couple of times yesterday I looked behind the play and there was Fergus involved in some push and shove with his opponent. I am really excited by his potential

Man, Ayres's coaching against the Power was incredible! THAT is what we've all been waiting for!

Jericho and Hentschell look like some serious stars. Given the nature of their drafting, I wonder if the credit goes to being at the Crows (training, etc.) for them becoming such good players rather than us finding diamonds in the rough.

I was really glad to see Ayres react to the Power's game plan of flooding the HB line by playing a BIG HF line and then using smalls in the forward proper. I think we should stick with this because it seems that once the ball goes deep into our forward 50, most of the time it's on the ground rather than us marking it. That makes the situation more opportune for small crumbing forwards than big guys, IMHO.

Exactly Stiffy. Our pre-season & late draft picking stacks up well. The problem has been with our early picks! Our recruiting has improved over the last couple of years, as it wasn't the best prior to then.

Uh...Eagles are doing fine at the moment....what the hell are you complaining about?

1995 when I was 10. Never really had an interest in footy till that age. Am also a fully paid member if that avoids you calling me a bandwagoner of a team that is 2-5.
