Round 8 POTY voting stats

Most popular selections

Docherty & Gibbs led the pack, each picked by 96% of posters
Kreuzer (90%), Cripps (75%), Simpson (54%) and Rowe (36%) next

Best on Ground

Docherty most popular 5 vote winner, with 35 BOG
Gibbs not far behind on 28
Kreuzer (4), Cripps (1) & Simpson (1) the only other selections

BNB

Sumner had almost half the votes, followed by Byrne. Plowman was a solid 3rd (despite not being eligible?)

Other

Docherty finished on a total 298 votes. Gibbs fell short by a bee's #31, with 295 votes!*
They were voted for the same amount of times
Doc picked 7 times more as BOG, but Bryce had more selection at 4 OR 5
So Gibbs was consensus as top 2 whereas, Doc polarised - picked more as 5 but also more often lower down the chain

* I recounted to make sure. The result may or may not be appealed to the Florida Supreme Court

Leaderboard stats
  • Doc and Cripps the most consistent, each polling in 6 of 8 matches
  • And when they poll, they poll well
  • Gibbs, E Curnow, Simpson and Wright (!) are next most consistent on 4
  • Thomas and Murphy the least consistent (each have 2 BOGs, otherwise haven't polled)
  • 3 of the 'Menzel 5' are on the board ;)
  • BNB - I suggested to MEB after round 3 that we should engrave Weitering's name on the trophy. Looks like he could have a battle on his hands...

Round 9 POTY voting stats

Most popular selections
  • Docherty & Byrne were both unanimous selections
  • Gibbs a clear third (86%), followed by Cripps (51%), Kerridge (49%), Sumner (43%) and Plowman (38%)
Best on Ground
  • Docherty (26) or Byrne (10) took out every single BOG choice, except.....
  • One poster gave Kerridge the 5 votes
BNB
  • Byrne had 100% of the BNB votes!*
Other
  • Doc was awarded 4 or 5 votes by 36 out of 37 posters. Everyone has the right to call the game as they see it, but this poster should be ashamed! :)
  • Doc averaged 4.68 votes per poster, an astonishing effort and much more unanimous than other weeks I have calculated. I have a feeling this will be surpassed (could we see a perfect result?) by a certain man bun in Round 10...
  • Cripps was picked by more posters than Kerridge, but Kerridge finished higher in the tally
  • Sumner finished just two votes (34 vs 36) off a place in the final vote tally
* One poster picked Plowman as BNB, depsite a) Plowman being ineligible and b) said poster awarding Byrne 4 votes (behind Doc).......love the creativity!

Leaderboard stats after Round 9
  • Doc pulling away a clear lead
  • Doc and Cripps leading the way in consistency, finishing in the votes in 7 games each
  • Cripps missed a match (Doc has played all), so Cripps has finished in the votes every match he has played this year, bar one!
  • Despite polling in 2 less matches, Gibbs leads Cripps on the overall count. When Gibbs plays well, he plays really well. Spoiler alert: round 10....
  • Kerridge and Byrne each polled their second match each, moving up the board
  • Byrne moves into the outright lead for BNB
  • Byrne's round 9 match was only the 2nd time a BNB player has earned more than 1 vote in a match (Weiters was BOG in round 3)
  • If Byrne was four weeks younger, he'd be eligible for (and a shot at) the rising star award!!!
