No, Trevor Huggard is still a huge f-wit.

Only someone with the first name of Reid would bother interviewing someone who has nothing to do with Carlton and just wanted to get his name in the press.

It should be completed in time for Judd's debut next year. ;)

The Gardiner stand survives. :)

My thoughts exactly.

Carlton tried to go through Harry Madden, Minister for planning but it was considered a conflict of interest.

Even if the club did get approval any resident or group could appeal and take the case to VCAT causung further dealys and perhaps compromises in design.
If forced to VCAT the wait would be an extra 2 months approx.

I wouldn't be counting any chickens just yet on everything going exactly to plan.

After any approval the club would be looking at tender process that could take 2-3 months and an 18 month build time minimum if everything went very smoothly.

I Imagine some stages may be completed earlier but the final completion will take something like 2 years from the date of any approval.

If you do, be interested to know their heights both from the Chook-house Registry and your own impressions.

I could be wrong, but i remember mid last year the talk was of a 35 million complete upgrade. With the initial talk of re hosting games there.
Nothing seemed to get approved. Maybe this is a compromise with the council, it sure doesn't sound as impressive as the initial idea.

..

No more games at PP....It was Jack Elliot who wanted to still play there.
That amount is solely for training facilitles and demolition of stands.
With 35-40 000 members it is just too small, amd too run down

Harry Madden as planning minister is the last resort. Without complicating things Madden is the only person who can over rule VCAT. It wont get that far... communities are keen on these things to happen as they generally benefit from it. In terms of the parkland, at the end of the day it would be a trade off which revolved around taking away the pokies and opening up the centre to the community.

Should be good and one would think that this was a strong point presented to Judd!

Will be sad to see the Heatley Stand go (lots of great memories there!) But good to see our boys will finally have facilities on par with the best.

I understand that, what i was alluding to was the fact that the development went from a 30 mil project to a 19 mil one:thumbsu:

There have been many figures mentioned ( I have heard 26mil )......first they need to get plans approved, at that stage there arent even working drawings made to get quotes from so these are all guesses anyway.

Would happily sacrifice the Heatley Stand in order to retain the one remaining grand old Gardiner Stand and this appears to be exactly what is happening.:):thumbsu:

Every time I walk up the old wooden steps, I feel like i'm going to fall through the bottom of them, and end up in the old Carlton dressing rooms. :)

Don't make me tear up fellas. I used to sit just where the roofline ended near the entrance to that gloomy little bar underneath that never had enough beer-pullers. It was a privilege to have water from the rusty guttering drip on you when it rained. Howled like a baby when Kouta and Big Nick did their thing in 05.

Don't insult Carlton by comparing our facilities to that of another club's.

Pratt will ensure our facilities will be better than any other club's and we will forever remain at one of Melbourne's best locations in Princes Park.

The best part is our boys will run out onto the best surface in a AFL and train at a ground were the tradition of the AFL's greatest club was built. We won't abandon our home ground and tradition for a car company and a city locale with a paddock as a training surface. Nor will we train at Craigeburn in the Summer or move the club to an area as prestigious as Frankston or Waverley.

We're better than that.

Carlton Football Club redevelopment planning application

There have been many figures mentioned ( I have heard 26mil ).......

From memory there were definitely two distinct redevelopment plans floating around.

The first was a ~$12M redevelopment in conjunction with the AFL's $55M Victorian club's facilities program -the one that now seems to be awaiting a planning permit.

The other was much more substantial (~$70M?? IIRC) announced by the former board prior to the 2007 election which most likely will not proceed.

first they need to get plans approved, at that stage there arent even working drawings made to get quotes from so these are all guesses anyway.

The drawings that would have been required as part of the application for the planning permit should provide sufficient detail to enable reasonably accurate construction cost estimates.
