· The SFL Colts are playing a practice match against Brighton at Pontville (10am)

· The SFL Seniors are playing a practice match against Brighton at Pontville starting at 12 noon

Got an email from the club about Glenorchy's practice matches this week, I thought we could use this thread to keep track with scores, and dates of them.

I'd probably get to the game at Pontville...but hoping to see the Glenorchy seniors against the Mariners.

Emailed the club, no costs involved in either game.

If I get to the game I will post some pics. :)

Love to know how you have come to the conclusion that North smashed us?

I think you will find Clarence got over the line, with dees outscoring a young clarence side in the last 2 quarters/periods
Interesting, Glenorchy, Hobart and North Hob all playing at NHO on saturday the 19th?

Yeah Cameron Beck & Will McManus both play for Old Melbournains, i assume they set it up.

Why would the SFL seniors be playing Brighton? You'd think they would play against a decent side. Brighton win two games a year :D

North Hobart u/23s looked very impressive last night in their practice match v Hutchins. They have a fair bit of depth and looked really fit

And what was the official score?

Any reports from the mariners vs Glenorchy match?

The pies lost by 2 goals I heard from one of the trainers at Brighton on saturday who got a call from there. SFL under 18s won by 80-90 points. Senior/Reserve side (mostly sfl reserves) copped a 60-70 point belting from the seniors for 3 quarters but were equal with the brighton reserves in the other 3 quarters.

Made my way up to Youngtown Today to watch Bulldogs vs Glenorchy. It was as I expected Glenorchy by around 70 or so points. 32 scoring shots to 11 about summed up the day.
Glenorchy looked pretty good with most players playing, apparently they were missing 4 of their best 22 including Aker!!!! They moved the ball well out of the back line with OGarey, Hunt and Cox good in the midfeld. They also had plenty of targets up forward (Reynolds, Bowring, Hodge etc.)
If anything they lacked a ruckman of size and quality with Spencer giving his all as always, but not much else. By reports S Chivers was one player missing. I was impressed with young blokes especially - D Joseph who moves very nicely indeed, a bit of Pendelbury about him. Also Collis from New Norfolk was also lively up fwd. The Glenorchy boys seemed very positive with each other and Byron Howard seems to have instilled a positive team environment into a team that may have lost some of this last year under Reid. Can't wait for the rd 1 clash vs Clarence!

For South Launnie it was a bit of the same old unfortunately. Hills was ok in the ruck, and a few of their Mariner boys were also ok - McKenzie, Riley. Jay Blackberry will be a danger most games. Mitch Thorp played deep fwd all game (2 Goals) but they butchered the ball to him. He will surely have to play up the ground to have any real impact. South ran the game out ok but skills and decision making were awful. I was hoping that kicking the footy may have been a priority over the pre season but my insiders say that running, running and running were the focus!! South will rely heavily on Hills and Thorp and if they get injured then it could be carnage! South have good Mariners but they wont have them for 5-6 weeks which will be a worry. They will trouble some sides like Nth Launnie at Aurora but will have to kick the ball better to win more than 2 games like 2010.

Today's trial matches

Old Melbournians 9.7 (61) v Hobart 8.5 (53) - North Hobart Oval
Launceston 10.8 (68) v North Hobart 8.9 (57) - North Hobart Oval

Any news on the Burnie Dockers Vs Lauderdale game today? Did Laycock play? Nick Walters? What about for the Bombers any new recuits?

How about Devonport vs Latrobe?

Burnie won by 3 goals. Laycock played but didn't really do much.
When the colts come on Burnie put about another 4 or 5 goals on them.
Burnie looked quite polished and will be very competitive, may be no 2 ranked in north behind Launceston?? Lauderdale looked rusty in the first but gradually got better in the next 2 quarters. 6 qtr game.
Lauderale had 2 recruits get off the boat at 6am and then play at 12. Ruckman did ok.
