As the title says, this is the place for any discussion about player form and fitness throughout the NAB Cup and intra club matches.

We'll get the ball rolling with Essendon who had a hit out in Shepparton today: http://www.essendonfc.com.au/news/news.asp?nid=7224

The Bombers have guaranteed the selection committee some headaches ahead of the club’s NAB Cup opener against West Coast next Friday, braving hot conditions to put on a tightly contested display in their first intra-club match at Shepparton today.
The two-hour hit-out saw a number of players putting their hands up for contention for a berth against West Coast with Patrick Ryder, David Hille, Angus Monfries and Jason Winderlich all looking impressive.

ESSENDON ruckman David Hille appears almost certain to line up for the Bombers in round one of the premiership season after performing strongly in their intraclub hit-out in Shepparton on Wednesday evening. Hille, 28, started the match in the goalsquare opposed to young defender Darcy Daniher, and it wasn't long before he marked on the lead and kicked the first goal of the game.

The powerful ruckman appeared for the first 15 minutes of each quarter, in what was his first game since he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament on Anzac Day last year.

Hille's performance was overshadowed only by positive signs at the other end of the ground where young injury-prone forward Scott Gumbleton snared two goals against Tayte Pears. The highly touted 21-year-old looked fit and healthy after a horror three-year period in which he managed just five senior games.

Some more news from the hitout. Puts Hille back on the radar for me.

The Roos and the Eagles also had a hit out yesterday evening:

Garlett, Bastinac push claims

CRUIZE Garlett and Ryan Bastinac have made early claims for spots in North Melbourne’s developing midfield with strong performances in an intra-club scratch match in Ballarat on Wednesday night.

Masten stars in West Coast intra-club match

PRIZED West Coast youngster Chris Masten appears poised for a breakout third AFL season after emerging stronger and fitter in 2010 and shining in the Eagles’ first intra-club hit-out of the year.

haha..

Seriously, Gumbleton will miss the opening NAB cup game, apparently bent over and twisted the wrong way and had a back spasm. I mean really, lets be honest.. He will never get on the park. Feel sorry for the kid.
