Pre-season training thread

Buca was in a small rehab group this am with Roberton and Rhys.

Hadn't heard of anything being wrong with Roberton - I was hoping to see him out there Saturday to see how he goes. Hopefully he's alright

That is interesting about McPhee. I figured the coaches were going to have that talk soon. I still think he will spend moments of each game in the centre square, but I doubt it will be his primary role.

yeah i agree with all of this. as an impact player to rough up the opposition a bit like solly used to smokey will be good.... id still rather him in the forward line than the backline, but he will still be a good sweeper across half back

just goes to show what a smokescreen mcphee playing in the midfield permanently was. just didnt want to say the truth... he didnt like knights

McFree is fab at reading the play into the backline and taking big marks. Need him there while Grover is out.

Personally, I like McPhee in the forward line. A big marking forward with Pav, MJ , Balla and Chopper are going to prove to be real trouble for opposition teams in future.

The backline is settling well. Elvis, Taz Broughton, Duff, Hayden, Suban and Silvagni to replace Grovery is very strong.

McPhee might be able to add muscle on occasion in the Midfield but getting caught with the ball is not good in the centre or the backline. He kicks the ball well and is a strong mark.

Lets use him as an attacking option. it is time that Freo created headaches for opposition backlines.

Dont think theres anything to worry about,was running repeat short sprints and didnt seem to be suffering any discomfort,same for Rhys and Buca

I'd say we'll need him back there a bit with backline rotations and until Silvagni proves himself properly, though he'll certainly be useful to expose teams with weaker backlines.
