Premiership Coach 2011

Well, out of boredom I decided to start a game using Port Adelaide (2012 roster pack) and after two seasons of bottom four I went into trade week deciding to cut most of my less useful 25 y.o+ guys loose. I advanced time to see what offers would come up and one of them was the most single lopsided idiocy-- I mean, trade in the history of... well, anything:

Gold Coast offered Gary Ablett in a straight-swap for Robbie Gray

I immediately went back on my original resolve due to said deal being one you'd be insane to refuse (or make for that matter but, hey... Clearly it happens)

That's now brings me to ask everyone here this question: What is the biggest "Train robbery" you guys have gotten away with during trade week in this game?

It was probably only because of GAJ's age, their value decreases quite a bit when they hit 28+

In about 2034, nearly every team had salary cap trouble (something they should fix in 2013). So i was able to get top players around the 23-26 age bracket for some fringe players and a first rounder.

I once got a 27 year old, 94 inside/outside mid also a 2 time brownlow medalist, for my first pick (17) and a 24 year old 81 outside mid

How long have you guys stuck with a team for? I'm currently in my first pre season with collingwood, deciding whether I should trade beams or swan for the 1st which will land an potential 99 inside mid, or use that pick on the 97 potential ruckman to replace jolly a few years on, as he has retired already. All of this knowing that I'm expected to win a premiership next year :|

In my longest file (default lists), I ended up sticking with the Crows for five years, before leaving to try and rebuild Geelong... That failed and I ended up going back to the Crows, who were the only team offering me a contract at the time (They sacked Hardwick right before they were set to play finals, giving me the odd distinction of having coached a finals and a wooden spoon team in the same year) I've stuck with the Crows since then. (Two or three years, although I ended up moving on from that file to try a few other things... Like realizing why redrafting rosters is slightly less fun when everyone being stingy at the trade table, even when there's salary cap trouble with almost every team... On the other hand, it is still pretty fun to see a Tex/Day/Darling-based forward line tear opposition defences to shreds)

Just before any of you guys read this, I posted some of my history of this save a while ago when I was up to season 2067. I just felt like posting more for you guys.

Every coach except for you gets sacked after two years no matter what happens, pretty funny because Chris Scott/James Hird get 65%+ win loss and usually a premiership/runner up and they get sacked after 49-50 games. They don't end up coming back, But I found that Malthouse and Hardwick and a few others stay for a very long time, I had Malthouse coach for like 60 seasons, before he retired, up to 2072 now, There isn't anyone who is a head coach who played/coaches back in 2011, but I think there are some that are assistants. Clarkson, Hardwick, Ratten, Atley, Judd, Craig and Malthouse have all coached 800+ games, Malthouse is second on the all time list with 1236 games while im first with 1426

I haven't really seen any good foward lines, but I have seen two really good midfields from teams I wasn't coaching, I think the first came around 2058-2065, In one of the seasons, the best 5 hawk midfielders all got 600+ disposals with 2-3 of them getting 700+, 4 of them made the AA along with one of their rucks. Then around 2065 all the way to 2072, Adelaide dominated everyone else with their midfield, they had like 6-7 mids that all achieved 600+ disposals each season, and all of them had around 2-3 AA's each. One of the guys was a #1 draft pick in 2058 and is 32 years old now and has played 347 games, I can see him playing 400 games, as he is still going strong, he also played in 4 premierships which was a result of Adelaides good midfield.

Just looked through the premiership list, Collingwood have been the runner ups for the past 4 seasons, (2067-2070), and the 2067,2068 and 2069 Grand finals were against Gold Coast, Really big rivarly there. Gold Coast have played in 5 grand finals within 6 years winning 5 of them. and Adelaide played in 6 grand finals in 6 years winning 4 of them.

How does this sound for a set of trades for Collingwood post-2012?

Essentially it will be this:
Sidebottom
17th pick
Ceglar
Beams or Swan

For
98 potential ruckman, to replace Jolly because he retired. Can play tall forward, maybe 3rd tall when not in the ruck
95 potential IM, can also play tall forward very well, small forward and small back reasonably.

This way I can keep a strong midfield and have 2 very strong players moving forward. They can both rotate forward, so I can probably save cap space and move dawes for a good deal as well.

Only downfall to this is that the board crack the shits because we can't win the premiership, even though we still have a very good chance this year.

Ablett usually always get traded. Usually, he ends up with Richmond when I play. Dawes is one of the best goalkickers in the game which, as it turned out, to be unrealistic. Though, at the start of 2011, I remember reading an article by Peter Hudson saying that Dawes could be a potential 100 Goals in a year guy. If only.

While I like the game, the main thing I dislike are the final scores. They are too unrealistic. Most teams, even if they lose, seem to be able to kick 90 points or even 100 points. Whereas TAR and Footy Fanatic are more realistic where teams will get smashed by 100 points or so, not score above 5 goals and so on.

Someone asked will there be a 2013 version? We where told there was going to be a 2012, but that never happened
MantaMedia responding saying: 2012 was pushed back for a potentially better version in the future. We will let you know as soon as we have the official word on the next football game we are involved in.
This is good news as we haven't heard anything from Ad or anyone about PC2013

If it does come out next year around the start of the AFL Season, then that would be good, I would get it when it comes out, but Im just going to do what I did with 2011 and wait till mid/end of the season and get it from EB for $15.

The way they say "Next football game" and not "Next premiership coach" or "next version of premiership coach" makes it sound to me that this new game won't be premiership coach.

If its not PC2013, we can atleast get our hopes up, it still means there would be a new game, probably would be a manager game aswell. I think that the "Football Game" they are referring to is probably PC2013 because I'm not really sure if another developer would be using MantaMedia unless that developer helped with PC2011. Also im not sure about here is if they are referring to Football as aussie rules or as soccer.

I don't think its the lists, I think it is the game engine, alot of the games are won by small margins, usually 2-3 goals, really anyone has a chance in the finals. I think that there should be some aspects of PC2010 in PC2011, I've noticed alot of things that should have been in 2011 that were in 2010.

You can change the xml files like Scaryness said, I know which ones to change, just need to find the name of the files.

I haven't checked the xml file names yet, but was it the Controller.xml file? Pretty sure it was that one or another one which I forgot the name of, I actaully need it aswell so because I made a custom team and probably will get fired so I need to get a new contract with my custom team.

Nope, all I did was go into /Data/saves/(save file name)/staff

And then searched for my coaches name, and changed his contract date expired. Easy
