Who should be presentd with medals?

I take a different view of the whole setup. Scrap the premiership medal and introduce the premiership ring.

Like in Basketball and other sports, all listed players/coaches & support staff receive their rings at the Club Champion / B&F night. On Grand Final Day, present the Norm Smith Medal and Premiership Cup but save the name by name bullshizen to a more formal setting like a B&F.

All players should receive a ring for their efforts, not only for the day but for the entire year. I know I will get heat from different angles but take a few examples.

Chris Judd, captain, only plays 8 games (for injury reasons) but he is in a winning GF side. With the 10 game minimum, he doesn't receive a medal. Fair?

After 15+ games for the year either Matt Rosa or Matt Pridis get dropped for the GF to allow a Embley or Fletcher to come into the side. Rosa and Priddis should be recognized for their efforts during the year. Fair? (ask Derek Kickett).

Ask 99.9% of premiership winning players where their premiership medal/s are. Whereas a ring can be worn with pride.

I see where your coming from, maybe give medals to the 22 players who played on GF day or players who played 10+ games and rings to the whole squad, that way everybody involved gets something and those who where more pivotle get a lil extra.

I like that idea also. The purists will argue that the 22 on the day deserve the medal and I agree to an extent. This is a team game and you hear the legends like Kennedy, Jeans, Parkin etc and they value the whole group (including the boot studder).

I think everyone on the list should get some sort of medal, they were part of the success (especially if they played through the year) and coaches should all get a medal too. However, there should be some sort of special part for the 22 players that played in the GF...it doesn't really make sense to give a medal to a rookie that didn't play above reserve seconds when a player who played every game of the year gets the same thing.

I rekon all the Assistant coaches should get something, maybe not a premiership medallion but at least something

should be the players that play on they day plus the coach receiving medals. they're awarded for winning the GF, not for playing an outstanding season and missing the GF, thats just plain bad luck on the player's part.

and they should definately be medals and not rings (or anything else). you wear rings and they'll get all scratched/worn out. medals tend to stay at home where they can't be harmed and can be paraded out whenever neccessary.
