By the Way, I will come on and eat humble pie if this lot proves me wrong! :D

But seriously, South Africa are weak, and they are scared. Cullinan running away, Boucher doesn't want captaincy, Pollock 'pulled up a bit sore.'

They are running scared, and I love it.
They don't believe they can beat us, they are showing how spineless they are.

After all the wraps about them, they are getting flogged and have lost that physical intimidation they used to have. They are a demoralised and soft as sh*t squad.

.....................

Just had to get that off my chest.

South Africa seem to be struggling for a captain at the moment. Kallis would be no good as he isn't the smartest guy on this planet (even though he is their best player). IMO, they should consider Kirsten who seems to have a good head on his shoulders & at least doesn't give in.

Good call on Kirsten. Maybe for the third test.

The main reason I mentioned Kirsten is that he is the only experienced Protea player who I think could make a decent job of the captaincy (& Boucher is not giving good vibes for his team as captain). As it is only temporary until Pollock's return I would not give it to one of the less established players such as McKenzie, Prince, etc as the extra pressure may cook their career entirely.

Tell us what you really think mate! :D ;)

Nick is entirely correct.

Firstly, they come over here as supposed #2 in the world, claiming they would take it right to us. Bang, crash, 3-0 series win - thanks for coming boys.

So they still have the opportunity to somehow snatch the #1 spot on earth if they draw their home series against us. So we beat them with the second largest test victory ever. 4/70 in their first dig on an absolute road.

They have set us just over 330 for the win, and we are already 1 down for over 100.

If this mob is the second best test cricketing nation on earth, then we must be the best by so far it isn't funny.

The South African's simply don't know how to play us. Sure, Boucher or McKenzie or whoever they want as their fill-in may not be the most natural skipper, but the fact is that in tests, Shaun Pollock doesn't cut it against Australia. His fields are too defensive, showing that he doesn't believe in or back his bowlers and hoping that the Aussie batsman stuff up rather than making it happen with pressure.

Bring on India in India - it seems like the only challenge left for us.

Points taken. But....

Having Pollock, Hayward, Ngam missing and Donald recently retired is the rough equivalent for them of us having McGrath, Lee, say Watson (?) unavailable, and Bichel retired. Just in terms of relative worth to the team. It would require us to construct a bowling line-up around Gillespie and Warne and a couple of hacks (seriously, who's left after that? - Kasprowicz? Nicholson? Williams? Bracken?) To dismiss us at all in this test would have been a major achievement, and to have us 6/185 in the first innings showed great character. I'm not sure we could have done the same under the same handicaps.

Pollock's carried that injury all summer. It has hampered his preparation, and cost his team runs and wickets, IMHO.

It doesn't excuse bad captaincy, which is probably the major difference between the two sides (well, that and Gilchrist...). And it doesn't help to explain how badly they are losing the psychological war. But we are finally seeing a bit of grit in the SA team, and players who, for the most part, will still be around long after the bulk of the Australian team have been put to pasture.

You gotta love Paul Adams - finally someone with the guts and cheek to give us some back. McKenzie showed his frailties under pressure, but for the most part that was a good innings.

We're seeing the ball do some funny things off the track. We still might get a fright or two before we win this one. And South Africa can at least wonder what might have been if they could get a full strength team on the pitch.

I think the result proved a point: we were simply too good.

In a very select group to have shased down 331 to win a game, and we did it with four wickets in hand and with Punter making a great century, including a six off the last ball.
