Surprising not to see Tendulkar in the top 10. I didn't realise his form was that bad.

First time in a decade apparently. Interestingly, if you look at his stats, he has actually been dropping off every year for the last 5 or 6.

Ponting is clearly the best batsmen in the world at present.

5 test centuries and 5 ODI centuries this year. Pretty hard to beat.

You gotta admit, he scored them against some pretty ordinary attacks. Lara and Dravid got their runs against some of the best in the world.

also the ratings are a bit **** i think.

anyone with half a cricketing brain doesn't need a computer to tell them who is best in the world.

I'd agree with Chris Gayle being the best allrounder in One Day Cricket. He's the only allrounder who has been in form over the last 12 months.

If you go through the allrounders, who has done something?

Jaques Kallis? Gayle has been in better form.
Lance Kluesner? Can't make it into South Africa's side.
Chris Cairnes? Injured and can't bowl for crap anymore.
Andrew Symmonds? Starting to get better, but still was inconsistent before the World Cup.
Shaun Pollock? Has had a reasonable year
Andrew Flintoff? Hasn't had that great of a year.
Heath Streak? Zimbabwe havn't played that many games and he has struggled with the ball.

Sure that Kluesener and Cairnes are by far the best allrounders in the World when on song, but over the last 12 months, it's Gayle who has done something.

I'd have him number two behind Brian Charles Lara.

He had a great series against the Aussie's, a good world cup and has continued that form against South Africa.

BLC along with Gilly are the most entertaining free-flowing batsman in World Cricket.

Punter's played against the bolwing attacks of England, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and India in '03' none of which are particuarly strong.

Also it will be interesting to see how Punter fares in the rest of the series when Zaheer comes back. Zaheer is World Class and Punter had no clue against him in the first test.

Can someone explain how Punter has moved down the ratings!!!! He is in the best form of his life, and the most in form batsman in the world over the last 18 months!!!!
5 (-) Inzamam-ul-Haq 792
6 (+1) Mark Richardson 765

Enough said there, absolute disgrace.

4 (-) Shoaib Akhtar 791

u gotta be kiddin me, seriously?????

These ratings are pathetic. The one in the Telegraph gave 1-15 and had Waqar Younis at about 14. He does not play international cricket!! He is currently playing 1st Grade for North Sydney

Ratings don't mean much, the only way to know how good a player actually is is by asking his opposition who face them. Coz Darryl Tuffey at no.7 is a bit of a disgrace.

Tuffey's rating is high at the moment because of his tour of India. He was nearly unplayable. Some of the best bowling I have seen in India. As good as Dizzy the last time the aussies toured their except Tuffey took wickets. Tuffey is a hell of alot better bowler these days. Akhtar at 4 is the disgrace. Dizzy and Ntini deserve to be ahead of him.

Well yes, Tuffey bowled well in India, but he got a lot of points for his ratings when he bowled on those absolute greentops last NZ season and got heaps of wickets, I agree he's a good bowler, but not a top 10.
