Centre Half Back - we havent got one. Shane Wakelin is finished, Nick Maxwell simply hasn't got the build, Jason Cloke is destined for a great VFL career (and nothing more), and finally James Clement is always hampered playing this position, he is a creative rebounding half-back, and nothing more.

Shane O'Bree - cannot handle a tag, and each time he has the ball, he kicks without penetrating the lines. A useless player we should have dumped, keeping Heath Scotland.

Tarky Lockyer - Adds nothing to the side whats-so-ever! Does not demand a position, and still gets a game - the reason being he is one of Mick's favorites. Keeping a player like this in the side is an insult to players like Chris Egan and Julian Rowe.

The Midfield - One word: "Slow!" Players like Paul Licuria, Scott Burns and Shane O'Bree have run their race. Malthouse should grow some balls, dump these players, and play Chris Egan, Sean Rusling, Dane Swan, Dale Thomas, Julian Rowe and Scott Pendlebury in the midfield for the rest of the season; no matter how much we win or lose by. Pace is what the games is all-about, so give these kids all the time possible, to quicken their bloody progress!

Anthony Rocca - is struggling becuase his coming off a major injury. He will continue to struggle for form this year, becuase his fitness base is not there, and i have my doubts he will ever get his fitness base up again (even for next year). Not much longer in this game.

Ruck - Guy Richards (Same old story). Sick of this forever sad situation.

All good points, Maxwell may still be a CHB.
O'Bree has been overall, pretty solid this year. But our midfield is so bad he gets the #1 tag. It's ok to have all of Burns, O'B and Lica in the team as long as you have the pace to back it up. In the first half of the year we did, Johnson was playing good footy (still is), Swan was and still is, Lonie was but has declined a bit (he has also been moved out of the midfield), this is because the in and under players are playng crap.

Do you sincerely believe Lica and Burns have run their race, well,
What about Thomas! He is a first-year player, he hasn't got much juice left in his tank.

My premier concern is, the ruck stocks. We need another quality ruckman. Simple as that.

interesting position is CHB these days, we have found ourselves not being able to play both presti & wakes in the same team because opposition teams dont have two big forwards..........think going forward presti will get the big forwards, ie brown, gehrig, fev, richo, tredders, hall etc. but most teams then have a few quicker taller types who play forward which clement, maxwell, obrien, j.cloke seem perfectly suited to. ie these four seem well equiped to play on the reiwoldts, pavs, hentschel, r.murphy, o'loughlin types

yep he has struggled since being the opposition main priority..........he has never had to handle this type of targeting, we need swan, pendles, thomas, didak, b.johnson etc to step up as great mids and hence let them get the taggers, this may happen going forward if they keep developing

id much rather have lockyer playing BP then ego or rowe, unless they can actually show that they can nullify an opponent. Ego could be a great backline player in a similar mould to McLeod - C.Johnson type if he had a better work ethic, has the pace off the mark, agility, height to be a great defender.......he needs to now get the desire

Burns has been a bit part player this year, licca has struggled, obree been good until the last month

u simply cant play all these guys at once, introduicing heater, swan, thomas, pendlebury is heaps........we were exposed against melbourne when all the kids came in at once and rowe, booch, davies etc couldnt handle themselves

we are still a chance for the top4 for christ sakes, no need to throw the season away

he has to impose himself on the game somehow, we need him to desperately. Take a big mark, bust open a pack, kick a goal from 55m......do something to inspire the team

Richards unfortunately just cant hold his body together, time to let go...........pies should target Seaby or Gardi and say to them that they will fight for the number 1 ruck spot with josh

Why didn't you post this after the Geelong game?

1. We need a ruckman to take the first ruck role.
2. We need a quick, skilled midfielder
3. We need a CHB unless C3 can do it – we should find out ASAP.
4. We need a grunt midfielder ala Burns
5. We need to cull the front runners – (a) O’bree, (b) Lockyer, (c) Davis for starters.

None of this is relevant while we have the same coach making the same list management, team selection, positional/opponent matchups and match day tactics. It’s time to start over with a new coach and find the next benchmark setter.

To do this I am now convinced we need a new president. Eddie has been outstanding and we owe him a hell of a lot for what he did for our club when we needed him. I think he has run his race though. The off filed is now stable and secure. the on field has to be the priority and we need someone ruthless and able to cull people who have been associated with the club for a long time and were brought in by Eddie and his regime.

I don't expect many people to agree with me but for what it's worth that is what I think we need to do to win premierships. Eddie sways of you don’t stand for something you stand for nothing. He says this in relation to out off field activities, particularly our charitable work. That is all well and good but we are a football club and if we don’t stand for premierships we stand for failure and we have been too good at that for far too long.

I think the whole c9 thing might be a blessing in disguise for us. Eddie might have to step down and once that happens the members will be able to fairly judge the president on the basis of on field performance, his appointments and their impact on winning premierships.
