Recent news and reports have the following events taking place inside the CCC club in Detroit on the night of Proof's death:

About 3am a fight breaks out over a game of pool which Proof was a part of.

Proof squares up to a bloke.

Proof produces a handgun, pistol whips the guy til he's unconscious (this is where it gets really ugly)

Proof shoots the man in the face whilst his unconscious and waves the gun at the man's friends.

The man's brother, who happens to be an on duty bouncer, and a former marine army sergeant, produces a concealed pistol and shoots proof 4 times in the head and chest, inside the club.

Proof dies, the guy he shot, still in critical condition.

The guy who shot proof has now only been charged with a concealed weapons charged.

Unfortunately for hte media, this is no 'rap war' going on, this is a grown man, with many things to look forward to in his life, and many acheivements to be proud of, trying too hard to maintain his credibility, or perhaps just acting a fool, and finding himself dead at 33.

RIP Proof, but the situation could have been avoided.

i must admit i was very shocked when i found out this has happened. Proof was very talented and he could have done alot more in his life so it is pretty tragic. But yes most definately could have been avoided but i wouldnt go as far as saying he deserved this, no one deserves to die in such a way.

I agree, it's a tragic loss, most losses are, but still pistol whipping someone and shooting them in the face isn't exactly what I'd call responsible behaviour.

But he hardly needs my condemnation, he's already paid with the biggest price.

A Grown man? Pistol whipping someone until hes unconscious then shooting him in the face over a pool game? yep hes a big man alright. One less lame 'gangster' that can be replaced by many more.

The question is a good one. Did he deserve to die or did his actions merit the final result?

Slight change in language but so important in answering it. No , no-one deserves to die, but his actions that night certainly made sure he was playing with fire.

Where did anyone imply anything like that?

To answer the OP question, I assume you mean "brought it on himself", in which case yes he did.

A lot of these studio gangsters would be well advised to take Chuck D's advice...

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!

Hip-hop - and society for that matter - is better off without these d***heads.

This is what happens when people do believe the hype though, if any positive can come from this, it might be to show the younger Hiphop fans what can happen when you get reckless.

Guys like Black Thought would absolutely whoop the crap out of 99% of mainstream rappers, but you would never see it happen, because the real artists are preaching responsibility and pride, what it really takes to be a man - but unfortunately, beef sells.

if he shot the bloke its his own fault he got shot. Noone deserves it though. Its cos they don't try and get out of the place where stuff like thats gonna happen cos they dont wanna be labelled as sellouts for leavin the hood

I think T-Shirt Hell sums it up pretty nicely.....

I didnt imply that someone had said that, otherwise I could have quoted the post. Just a general statement that you've over-analysed relating to the rap culture and the whole tough guy act involved with it.

Ignorant fools. Firstly this account has come from the man who shot proof (who was not Keith Bender's brother but his cousin). The shooter and his lawyer are the ones telling this story.

Okay ask yourself why a millionare succesfull musician with a wife and 5 kids would pistol whip and then shoot an unarmed person in the head for no reason? No matter how wack he is off whatever he's not going to do that over an argument. What is most likely that took place (and has already been reported by some witnesses) is that Bender pulled a gun on Proof first, Proof shot him and then Bender's cousin unloaded on proof firing 4 rounds into his body and 2 into his head (self defence of course) then went and took the gun of his cousin to make it look as though he hadn't instigated the fight.

Of course news will keep developing as time goes on and we hopefully will find out what really happened. But don't label Proof as some dumbass headstrong rapper (such as 50 cent) when you cleary don't know that's what he was. Those who knew Proof always remember a great guy who loved his fans and stuck to his roots (the fact that he was still hanging out in Detroit even with all his success shows this).

Proof was one of my favourite rappers and did not deserve to be murdered. Nobody deserves to be shot and killed.

R.I.P Big Proof.

youve committed the same sin we have, basing your hypothesis on opinion, not facts. You reveal your bias by choosing to adhere to the set of facts that paint proof in the best light

I think you may be mixing both parts of my post as being directed at you. The only bit directed at you was the first sentance, in which you did imply that rJ thought he was a tough guy, otherwise why bother quoting him at all?

The second sentance surprise surprise was answering the question posed in the opening post.
