I think so long are you are investing and not just spending you are going to be better off than the next person.....of course its taken me the better part of 25 years to work this out!

Property - has boomed and the thing about it is that it can be a no brainer of an investment, porvided you follow simple rules - the problem with it though is that it has high entry and exit costs and for the majority of people it requires a substantial mortgage.

Shares - are up and down - and requires a little bit more effort as an investment. Unlike property its entry and exit costs are low/there is a ready market and you know the price you are paying is the market price at a given point in time. It also doesn't require a substantial moretgage.

The one thing I would say to people is that you're never to young to start investing....certainly my kids will be investing from a young age.
