What Im looking for is something different to the above, something like Resident Evil or Soul Calibur. Can you reccomend something( what is Zero Gunner 2)? because the bastards at DC IGN have made it so you have to be in Insider to read any review.

Jet Set Radio. It's a Sega game (developed in Japan by Smilebit - a Sega developer) where you skate around 'Tokyo' on "magnetic inline skates" and spray graffiti everywhere. It's the coolest most super funky game ever made. It looks fantastic, the soundtrack is amazing (a combination of licensed music and music made for the game - it all works so well) and the gameplay has it's little Sega quirks that make it enthrallingly addictive. Jet Set Radio Future has just been released in the US for Xbox and if that game is available at the Aus launch, then i'm getting one. JSR is probably my favourite game ever, (i'm a games nut and i've been playing games for a long time!) and most people who have played all the way through it generally think the same thing. :)

Also, Shenmue is awesome. Another Sega game - a huge RPG that is very different to any other game i've ever played. Shenmue 2 is even better, but if you decide to check it out, make sure you play Shenmue 1 first as part 2 is the continuation of part 1 and not a "new" game. (you can use your save file from SM1 when you start SM2.)

Zero Gunner 2 is a 2D shooter that you would have to import. (or hunt down a pirate version of it from somewhere as it's pretty rare now. It was only released in Japan.) Do you play 2D shooters at all? Mars Matrix is the same type of game. If you like hypnotic-like gameplay, then definately check them out.

Ferrari 355 is probably the best racing game ever made. (yes - better than GT3.) It's a complete sim. Do you have a steering wheel? This game and Daytona are fantastic with a good steering wheel. (preferably one with pedals and not just the levers on the wheel like the Sega wheel...)

Oh i nearly forgot - REZ! You NEED this game! It's just come out in Europe (and Japan about 3 months ago) - i ordered a copy from a guy off ebay. It is seriously amazing! It's an "on rails" shooter and you have a target on the screen that you control, and you press A button to shoot. Simple. But the game is all completely wire frame graphics - it's supposed to be a giant computer network and you are shooting the viruses that are taking it over. The cool thing is though, the world, the music, and the gameplay (and even the vibrations) are tied in together to create an "experience" rather than a "game." (although it's still an awesome game.) When you shoot, depending on how many enemies you lock onto, you create little musical parts that really let you "feel" the game. (it's all trance music - and it's unbelievable trance music) You have never seen anything like it, and you have to play it to understand it.

BTW, is the fishing game any good? I think it could work if you have the rod too, something different.

Which one? :D

I've got Sega Bass Fishing and Sega Marine Fishing. (and a rod.) There's also Bass Fishing 2 but i haven't played that yet. Both of the first two are good fun if you're into slightly weird games. :)

I could easily crap on about DC games forever (ask jod23 lol) so anything else you want to know, just ask.

Also, the best place to get an idea of whether a game is good or not is www.gamerankings.com It has links to reviews from heaps of different sites, and it gives you an average score for the game as well based on all the different review scores.

cheers

(oh and as for Seaman - i saw it at E3 a couple of years ago but have never bothered to buy it. There's a special edition i'd like to find that comes with a microphone that you can use to "talk" to the Seaman........very weird!)

Sounds pretty interesting I'll check it out.

I don't have a steering wheel but I've got a pc wheel/pedal system that was given to me and apparantley you can get something to switch it to DC compatible so I'll investigate that. Anyway, how does Ferrari 355 compare to SegaGT? Because I'm looking at getting another racing game (a racing sim) to go along with Daytona which is an arcade racer obviously.

After a little inspection at gamerankings.com (thanks for the URL) looks like with only 1 car available and the steep learning curve attached to F355 that Sega GT might be more my style.

I'm looking for a good soccer game, Virtua Striker 2 isn't spectacular by any means and theres allot of things holding it back that just plainly piss you off (you'll know what I'm talking about if you've played it). Do you know of any good soccer games?

Thanks.

Sega GT is pretty average. It's a wannabe Gran Turismo, and nowhere near as good a game.

You should go to an arcade and play Ferrari 355, as the DC version is exactly the same. (with a few extras......tracks etc)

If you want a REAL racing game, you can't beat it, although you really need a wheel for it. (and Daytona :) ) YEah - there's only one car - but the racing is so realistic. But it may not be what you're after at the moment

If you really want a racing/driving game with lots of cars, check out some reviews of Metropolis Street Racer. (MSR) It's much better than SegaGT, but it has a twist. ;)

Yeah i know exactly what you mean about VS2.......

You may have to hunt down a pirate or an import as i don't think it was ever released here, but UEFA Dream Soccer is probably the best on the DC. It's basically just your standard FIFA-type clone - nothing fantastic. If you want a real soccer game, get a PS2 and a copy of Pro Evolution Soccer. IT ROCKS!

It is a shame the DC never got a really good soccer game. (or a real golf game.)

cheers

Yeah, over the past few days I've been looking at planetdreamcast.com (great site) and I definitely want to check out the 24 hour race (real time) in Test Drive: Le Mans. That alone makes me want to get that game.

That's a fantastic game.

Developed here in Melbourne. ;)

X-Box is supposed to be FAR superior to PS2...
But X-Box is just like a PC...It has a Pentium III 733 mhz chip inside with a GeForce3 (I think) inside, plus a hard disk.
In fact Microsoft are running at a loss to produce the thing.

Statistic:

PS2...50 million bits per second.
X-Box: 150 million bits per second.

I would just like to start with with a big thankyou to everyone who replied to this thread.
In the end it was what I read here that swayed me towards the x box.
The biggest thankyou has to go to gPhonque who after initially sitting on the fence come out and gave the most indepth info.

So on thurs the x box it is, along with what looks like one of the best games ever halo.
The co operative part looks really good, along with the jeeps.

yeah mate I'm starting to lean towards an XBox as well, even though I've been giving it **** through this topic.

But XBox doesn't have the great games at the moment so I'm going to wait!

BTW, I wouldn't be waiting for the price of the XBox to drop because Microsoft produce it at such a loss already.

SeinDude true, PS2 does have great sports games and I'm a sports games FREAK!, so the PS2 does attract me in that regard. Plus there better be a Cricket 2003 with State Teams!
