Okay so my Ps3 wont detect another controller. My friend brings his controller around and whenever we try to use it, the four red lights at the top flash and that's it. Does having the controller USB plugged in change it? I read somewhere it did but I don't think so..

Why would it not detect his controller? Both are DS3's.

You need to connect the new controller to the PS3 via the USB cable then turn it on. Should be sweet to go then. Of course when your friend tries to use his controller on his own PS3 he will need to do the same again.

Tried that. Plugged my usb into his controller and pressed the PS button, still just kept flashing without recognising it.. this is what confused me the most.

The only thing I can think is your not plugging it into the right USB port, is it in the second spot, or are you plugging it in the first controller port?

I have a problem with the PS3 controller, but it's not anything to do with my machine not detecting them

Nah USB is still fine, and I have the USB plugged into the first USB slot.
Is YOUR controller synced to the first spot? Then put the second controller(And USB cable) in the second USB slot, it should work.

So first controller synced to the first spot, take cable out of that, plug cable into second USB spot and into the second controller, and it should be good.

hbk you nuff you don't have to change the positions of the usb cable....
but like rooster said it does need to be connected to the usb to initially sync...

i'm not actually sure why it didn't work for you hawks...

i don't think anybody in here knows....what are your problems with it?
BIG HANDS.;)

But you can't have two controllers plugged into the same no.1 position on the PS3, I checked and it gives the same blinking lights thing that Hawks is complaining of, I am just thinking he is trying to sync the controllers to the same spot, but one needs to be synced to the first USB spot, the second needs to be synced to the second USB spot.

it doesn't man....

when i had 4 controllers i had them all synced through the same usb in the same slot.....

the numbers at the top just go to whichever it picks up first/whichever was pressed first.

you only need it connected to the usb for the initial sync then it's right til it dies.

i just always have the usb connected to the ps3 (always same slot) so one controller can charge/be fully charged while i use the other controller til that runs low then repeat

the other usb slot i have the wireless receiver for mouse and keyboard

Hmmm, well maybe it's best if he does it?
