I got that when my ISP changed their DNS setting the other day.

Just rebooted my modem/router and then it started working.

It basically means you are not properly connected to the Internet if you are getting that.

Try rebooting your modem/router
Try setting up your PS3's internet settings again

What about in the instance where it's only wireless not connecting?

I can connect when wired, but not wirelessly. My PC can connect wirelessly as well as my mobile?

I've restarted the modem and re-setup the internet settings on the PS3 and still nada - just won't connect wirelessly

When you setup Wireless vs Wired you end up having reconfigure all the settings on PS3.

So when you switch between them, you are running an entirely different network configurations that aren't necessarily comparable.

As you have said you have other devices operating correctly then it will definitely be the PS3 settings that are wrong.

When you setup your PS3 wireless connection you will get the option to 'Test this connection' (or something like that).

Does it pass that test stage successfully or not?

If is passes that stage, but then fails during normal operation, then it could be interference from other wireless networks operating nearby.

If it does NOT pass that test stage then your wireless settings on either the PS3 are still incorrect.

So you'll have to keep playing with the settings until you get it right and it passes the test stage.

Things to try:

I would suggest going into your router settings and temporarily disabling the following security settings:

* Encryption
* Password protection
* MAC filtering
* SSID hiding

This will ensure your router is completely 'open'.

If you don't know what some of those security protections are then you probably have not turned them on, so don't worry. Just turn off the ones you know you have setup.

OK, now try to get the PS3 connecting to that 'open' router. It should work, if it doesn't then it is likely that you are providing some incorrect details during the PS3 network setup.

If connecting to the 'open' router DOES work, then it means one of those security settings is stopping you.

So I would suggest you then switch them back on *ONE* at a time, and reconfigure the PS3 *each* time to use each additional security measure.

As you add back each security setting then eventually PS3 wireless will stop working again and that will be the setting that is stuffing you up.

Once you know what setting is causing you problems it can help give us some extra ideas.

I run my wireless network with the following turned on:
* SSID hiding
* MAC filtering
* 2 layers of encryption
* password protected

When I tried PS3 wireless it connected to it just fine. So it probably the settings you are feeding it rather than the PS3 being a dud.

In the end, having said all that. I tried Wired and it is 10 times better!! When I'm streaming movies from my PC to PS3 it NEVER drops out. Wireless drops out quite often.
Wired is also MUCH easier to configure. I would just keep it setup with Wired :thumbsu:

TL;DR - use Wired it is better anyway
