there's absolutely heaps of quality games out at the moment....

for some cheap exclusives at the moment...try ratchet and clank:tools of destruction, heavenly sword, uncharted and resistance (resistance 2 is coming out in about a month and is set to be a HUGE release) for a bit of variety

they are all about 50 dollars at the moment at jb and all outstanding games

also if you hook up online you can go into the playstation store (if you have a debit or credit card) and there's heaps of great games for like 13 dollars or thereabouts

also you picked a very good time to pick up the console....

some of the releases in the next 2 months are not to be missed

Burnout Paradise is great for a fun and very fast racing game. Think it's just come down in price too, and is still getting some great free downloadable updates - the addition of motorbikes and trophies in the last two updates, and another coming which will add a new island. It's a lot of fun online too.

Oblivion is an absolutely huge game. If you enjoy role playing games even slightly this is a must buy. I believe it may have just become a 'platinum' game so should be cheap now (or soon) too.

Call of Duty 4 is a great shooter. You can get it for $60 at JB Hifi for the 'game of the year edition' (you get the extra multiplayer map pack for free). Single player isn't the longest game ever, but it's pretty amazing.

Uncharted is great too. Resistance and Motorstorm are also very good, but have sequels coming in the next month or 2.

Skate is very good if you like those type of games. The controls are much better (though harder to get a hang of) than previous skateboarding games. I can't believe no one had done it before. It's a bit more realistic than Tony Hawk type games. I think there's a sequel coming out sometime soon, so might be better off waiting for that.

Yeah I'd take look at the upcoming games for this month and next month, and possibly wait for some of those if you are looking at buying full price games. There's some big name games coming out over the next 6-7 weeks - Fallout 3, Little Big Planet, Bioshock, Guitar Hero World Tour, Call of Duty 5 (though made by a different developer to number 4), Prince of Persia, Resistance 2, Motor Storm 2, Tomb Raider, James Bond and others.

Also Burnout is now available as a download from the PS Store, I believe it costs $49.95.

Yeah you would just need a power transformer thing, and make sure you have a good tv that allows for NTSC and PAL, most do these day I believe.

Good thing is now you don't have to buy games from over there, as it's region free now.

Just some games like the college sport games dont come out over here so ill likely buy them now.

Then just buy those from America and get them shipped. Don't need to get your ps3 shipped, would end up close to the same price in the end.

You didn't read very well. Mizza said "If i was to buy a PS3 game from America would it work on my PS3 here?

I have Grand Theft Auto IV, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Metal Gear Solid 4, Saints Row 2, Time Crisis 4 and Virtua Tennis 3 so far on the PS3. I'd easily recommend them all apart from TC4.

I've pre-ordered Guitar Hero: World Tour too. $280 if you pre-order at Target for the game, drums, guitar and mic. :thumbsu: (Retails for $330)

Also looking at getting Silent Hill: Homecoming imported because it's been banned here.

AND might get LittleBigPlanet. ^_^

Better yet, get Top Spin 3, better controls, graphics and it has online.:thumbsu:

I downloaded the demo and thought it was shit controls. And VC3 is only like $40 compared to ... $80? for TS3. Online doesn't interest me atm considering I only have dial up and next G wireless net. :(

The controls certainly aren't shit, they offer alot more depth than the pick up and play arcade type of Virtua Tennis, it teaches you how to play a game of tennis and not over use everything, finesse can be a great way to beat someone as well as power, well while online might not interest you it is certainly a way of keeping the game fresh and up to date, also adds alot of longevity to the game.
