Had the PS3 since about mid 2008 and was pretty pleased with the quality of it. That was until I was playing FIFA 08 on a mates PS3 (a game I've been playign for way too long now) and realised how good the resolution was compared to mine.

He told me about the HD cable he'd bought so I went and grabbed one myself...the clarity now is just incredible.

What I want to know is why Sony don't include the cable with the PS3...maybe they do and I just bought the wrong package. But with a small price rise I think it would be totally worth Sony including it because it makes their product so much better.

I guess it's because not everyone has a HD TV, but I would think that if they included the cable it would encourage those people to save for a new TV.

a.) they could not afford any more of a price rise, it's already too expensive for a lot of people
b.) they would include a genuine Sony one which would bump the price up by $50, you can buy HDMI for $20 or less
c.) they are tight arzzzes

None of the packages include HD cables, not even Component.

I got tricked by this when I bought mine, the guy said it had HD cables in it....

Interesting. Yeah my cable was $30. My mate told me a guy at Harvey Norman said for his PS3 and surround sound system he'd need a HD cable worth upwards of $200. Told him to get stuffed.

The bloke at the Good Guys chucked a Crest HDMI cable in for me when I bought my TV from there a few months back. Worth about 50 bux I think, works a treat. Also picked up an optical cable for about 5 bux off ebay to connect my ps3 to surround sound and that also works fine. I think if you are buying one of the brand new 200Hz screens then you should look at getting a better cable, possibly silver plated etc. but until then all the cheap standard cables work fine on full hd sets at the moment.

nah, no need to spend more money on expensive HDMI cables, no matter the set
 
HDMI is digital. Which means unlike analogue cables, you don't have signal loss issues due to inferior cables. It either works or it doesn't

No need for plating or any of that guff.

lmao well done mate. Hardly Normal will do anything to sell those bullshit Monster Cables.

Another plug for this guy from DTV forums. Great quality gold plated HDMI cables for a reasonable price. Very quick with delivery as well. www.ezyhd.com.au. He even sells HDMI switch boxes for a good price too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

or at least was...

when i bought my second ps3 from jb hi-fi around the time of resistance 2 i got a hdmi cable which had 50dollars on the package included in it....
as well as resistance 2 for 688

when i sold my dead lasered ps3 off to a mates, mate i just chucked it in for him since i didn't need it.

i didn't get one with my initial ps3 however.
 
I got an HDMI Cable at JB Deal along with Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet and a PS3 itself. The HDMI Cable only cost $19.95. Though, I have never gotten the chance to try it out, I have a Sony Bravia LCD TV but I can't be bothered moving the PS3 over to it.

I assume that was a bundle package from JB where they included it?

I meant moreso straight out of the box, if you just buy a PS3 you don't get it, much like if you buy an arcade 360 you don't either

not that it matters coz they do the same thing but you got a crappy one...either that or they messed up with mine and gave me a good one!

the one i got had $47.95 on the plastic box

yeh it was bundled with a choice of 4 games and i picked resistance 2 (which i took back my copy i bought the previous night and bought the ps3 but minused the price of resistance2) since i owned all the games besides abba singstar which i didn't want.

i'm not sure what the go is now but it's really quite shocking that they don't include them IN the box

yes i know already.

but it was more me trying to feel good that i lucked out on a more expensive model:cool:....as i said not that it mattered coz it does the exact same thing.

i'll take any sliver of luck i can get. (i'm not a very lucky person in general...my sister laughs about it all the time :()

I like it, well I did like it...until i got the red ring of death (can anyone help me with that by the way). I used the digital cables for that.


About a month ago got a ps3 aswell. I could not believe how shit the graphics were. that was until I bought the HDMI cable, graphics ten times better. I rate the PS3, just have trouble finding games at shops (at reasonable prices). One Big W didnt even stock ps3 games!

Online is best usually for PS3 games, check out CD Wow etc.

Or JB at retail level
