i bought a PS4 online through JB more than 2 years ago. In the last few months, maybe three times in the last 6 weeks I've come home from work with the PS4 on and am ejected disc! I've read online it's common. I did all the stuff mentioned. Even the tightening of that shitty screw! What's the options. Would JB give me a new one? Does Sony fix it? Should I just not use discs or turn off at power point during the day. If only happens when disc is in there.

I got it to stop on my launch model by removing the rubber strip that is directly under the eject button.

My brother had the same problem. Pretty sure he did some sort of factory reset thing. Eitherway it is prob a sign of it going. Get ready to buy a new one in the coming year imo

Yeah mines never during gameplay. I'll just come home and it's on and disc is ejected

It also turns on even just by touching the top of the unit. Had it horizontal but the fans were going crazy so I've got it vertical now.

I had the same on mine a couple of years back. Sent it to PlayStation they fixed it and sent it back free of charge

Yeah I bought mine in 2014 so out of warranty. I'm just going to turn it off at switch which is annoying but helps my OCD a bit lol

Get in touch with Sony as you should be covered by consumer law. There is no way you should have a reasonable expectation that your machine will start randomly spitting out discs after only 3 years.
They should fix it for little or no charge and if they can't you should be given a replacement console

There is an easy fix to this - it will never completely fix the problem but I did this once a month or there abouts and it slowed the issue.

Probably easy to read a guide but slide the top side panel off - this is designed to come off and Sony used to sell different colour clovers for this on the old chassis which you have.

Using a small screw driver their is a small plastic hole to tighten. This is a manual disc eject screw - if your console was dead you are supposed to use this to manually remove the disc. Tighten this and you should have a lot less issues.

Also give the buttons a good clean. They are very sensitive and dust can cause this issue too.

Annoyingly you are well outside a manufacturers warranty but this is a common fault with the early ps4's. They have since fixed this. You can try to contact Sony and they may help.

Yep done that screw one, one thing I've noticed...it's only when there's a disc in the system that it does this. I think that it might even be our surround sound speaker on the unit setting it off. But when that's off?? Who knows.

I had the same problem and fixed it completely. I used to have to turn it off at the wall every time i finished playing because it would turn on and spit it out while I was at work and the console would be on all day. I opened the back up and put electrical tape over the gold sensor. Hasn't spat it out since I did which has been a month now, before that it was doing it 4-5 times a week.

I had the same issue and tried everything with no success. ended up taking advantage of a trade in deal last week for a ps4 pro :)
