Neates a bit of a surprise for WCE, think a carbon copy of Travis Colyer, was BOG in the Colts grand final, very zippy small forward/mid.

Called for two minutes for 66, reckon looking for a pick for need here...a few speculative talls still on the table.

He's also been training with Fremantle

Jaryd Cachia Height: 184cm - Weight: 84kg - DOB: 18
Club: Northern Knights (VIC)

Sydney get Jarryd, who was very good at U16 level but did not progress as well as I expected and he has since dropped in my rankings. Jarryd is a good solid mid who does his best work inside but is capable of finding the ball outside. Athletically he is reasonably good, he is quick enough, yet not lightning, and he is fairly agile, his endurance is good yet IMO needs to improve. He is good inside, possibly needs to improve defensively, and he can dish out handballs well, although on occasions I have questioned his hardness at the ball, sometimes he can be accused of skirting packs. His kicking is generally all right off his right foot, yet his left foot is very poor, he also probably lacks a bit of penetration when kicking.

Thanks to Offsider. Another midfielder *MK waits in fear*

**** if Panos is still there at our next pick, ****ing get him. Just as I typed it we get, 31 Carlton - Joseph Dare

Pick 31 Joe Dare
Height: 190cm - Weight: 83kg - DOB: 17/10/91
Club: Geelong Falcons

This kid has really jumped out of the blue this year and had a very good TAC season, particularly the second half of the season, to the point where he really should be drafted in the Rookie draft, and he was one I was surprised was not picked up earlier. He is predominantly a half back flanker in the Milburn or Enright mould, i.e. can play as a third tall and provide good run and has good disposal, but athletically he is just average On a side note I think he has the ability to become a good third tall (he has played there in patches in the TAC) with his clean skills and good marking, although maybe pace is an issue.

I do have major doubts on how he will perform at AFL level as a defender, with his lack of athletic ability especially his mediocre pace, which may see him to be exposed on the lead; this could see him become a liability in defence at AFL level. He is quite strong one-on-one and can hold his position nicely, he seems to be reasonably strong through the core, and he has strong defensive capabilities which should hold him in good stead for the future. I could see him playing as a third defender who helps out with the key defenders on the bigmen, ala Tom Harley (another with no pace). There is a slight chance he may grow 2 or 3 more cm (not out of the question has reportedly grown a lot over the last year) to become a genuine key position size, and potentially a very good CHB/CHF, although his endurance will need to improve. His marking overhead is actually quite good, and he can take a strong contested mark, which may serve him well as a forward.

He has a very good kick over about 50m max, and can hit most targets with reasonably flat passes that are quite accurate with good weighting, when needed. He also seems to be reasonably footy smart, and this leads to excellent decision making coming out of defence. He also seems to find the ball quite well coming out of defence and he seems to read the play very well, which allows him to set up attack from defence. Dare has good hands below his knees and rarely fumbles, and he seems to be hard at the ball and the man, he is a good strong tackler.

Joseph Dare seems like a very good prospect here, and one who I would have thought would have gone in the draft. Whilst I have doubts on whether he will make it, athletically mainly, he could become a player similar to Bock/Harley (more in the way they play the game not them themselves) and become a very good AFL contributor, but probably not a star. Furthermore from all reports he has an excellent kid and will work hard to get the best out of himself.

Thanks again to Offsider and his Rookie Phantom Draft

Wouldn't it be nice if we actually got Panos, but wait lets get some more midfielders.

Wonderful pickup for the blues with cachia
Him and robbo will make a scary tag team

both crazy with their attack on the ball
cachia will bring some hardness and toughness

can't wait to see him play

Dare is a medium defender, one CM taller than Davies
