Haven't seen the former. Latter is here.

Haere Ra

Definitely something very sus going on here with the goo. Surely even if the club were planning on delisting him and re-rookieing him he'd still be taking part in pre season training as a requirement all players have to undertake.

Surely the fact he hasn't seemed to have been present at time trials (from what I've seen), training and now the overseas training camp, surely says he won't be on any of our lists next season.

G G G G Gone I'd say

Eactly, we'd be better off not locking ourselves into a potential PSD list-clogger for 2 years by getting rid of Moore. Moore can be used solely for depth, by round 13 or so his body might be in decent enough shape to get 10 games out of him if needed.
I thought (and here is where I show my ignorance) the requirement for a two year deal was only for the 18yos ("draft age")... if you go a mature state league player it was any length deal you want... could be wrong.

EDIT: according to the 07-11 CBA, it was any 'first year' under 23...

Reading the tea leaves tells a bit me thinks:

1) AFL clarify Newman is one of several vets remaining on the main list
2) Moore in on the Kiwitiger lead tour of Vegas strip clubs
3) Goo is unsighted

Newman may still be taken off the main list today, but definitely smells like da Goo has had his day IMO

Jmacs disposal is fine, wouldnt be writing him off after 1 20min batch in a training session

Absolutely. He just had some fair dinkum howlers. Break your finger stuff.

Anyway, if Goo goes, then we have the option of moving Newman to the vets list and taking 2 in the PSD...:)

So Port Adelaide pose a serious threat if they can't come to an agreement with Davis. Oh well hope it all works well McCarthy is just the type of player we need:thumbsu:

Really hope Neon Leon lines up for Port. Word is that he isn't getting the $$$ he deserves and Port won't pay overs.

Any chance McCarthy will say no to Port?
The only way Port could overlook him is if he priced himself out of their range, which is unlikely given they don't really have anyone who would be commanding massive dollars. In other words if Port want him they can take him.

Leon not getting money he 'deserves'... Pfft. The bloke had the easiest job in the AFL.

Floating around Collingwood's defence with players blocking and running hard into space for him. Give me a break. He's not going to be getting such a free ride trying to clear the ball for Port's defence.

Pretty harsh, Leon was fantastic this year and fully deserved his AA. He won a shedload of 1v1's

EXACTLY! His awards speak for themselves. 2 AA's in 2 different spots. Not saying I like the guy, but he's a great player and deserves the 300k or whatever he's asking for if he's still in the best form of his career.

one train of thought of mine is. we outsmarted them in taking morris. i wonder how hard they were prepared to go after him.
may end up we get morris they get mccarthy.

have to say im not sold on mccarthy if we get him fine if we dont i think there are better or just as good options still there.
its a psd pick its effectively pick 100 something. after all the psd like the rookie draft is just an extension of the nd in a lot of ways.

Drop Moore from the list and THEN rookie him.

This way we keep him and we make room on our list. If he recovers, we have a player. If not we lose the minimum possible.

I'll go with what the club does about the Goo. We simply do not know what's going on there.
sheesh how sensible would this have been.
and i agree we dont know what happened with gourdis. seems the club had little option but delist him.

Can McCarthy kick and is his disposal good that's the question that worrys me ?

I thought we had a "no d*ck heads" policy, and I was under the impression McCarthy may not satisfy the requirements of this policy. Didn't he have some form of personal/attitude/behaviour issues at the Pies?

Him and beams were questioned by police, along with others, in relation to an alledged sexual assult involving a vfl player after the 2010 GF

Didn't Port mention they couldn't afford over $200k? We could easily put him out of their price range by front loading even only a tiny bit and it still wouldn't be paying overs.

I'm to the point where I'd like McCarthy to become a Tiger but wouldn't mind so much any more if we miss out due to recent acquisitions. Though the PSD is typically used to get a player to their preferred destination and I'll be surprised if even Port sink as low to drag a player interstate who flat out doesn't want to be there.

I guess we'll find out in time though :) Have to have something to talk about at least.

This was posted on OER. We knew it but we're definitely committed to McCarthy. It would be a pretty low move for Port to swoop at this stage.

Similar to Nick Stevens a few years back when he was forced into the PSD, he wanted to play nowhere else but Collingwood, the Blues had a pick before them and swooped and Stevens went on to become a pretty good player for the Blues for the rest of his career.

To put it another way, if we had a pick ahead of Port and there was a player available that we thought would improve our list, would you be happy if we overlooked him just so he could get to Port?

Drafting players who have openingly committed their wish to play elsewhere surely couldn't be good for team moral . As shagged as port are , I doubt even they would be stupid enough to take McCarthy after he appears committed to us .
Interestingly I don't think Stevens ever looked comfortably at Carlton and there where constant rumours of him not fitting in and being excepted by team mates .

Excellent example RT. But this time I think it's just a little different because we're also talking about dragging a player interstate.
