What is the biggest and or best value pub/counter meals available? Two examples I have are the BlueStone Yarraville (now closed and being turned into condo's or some rubbish) and The Yacht Club (also closed turned into some trendy watering hole) in Willytown, Victoria they advertised they hadn't put there prices up for 15 years a meal cost $2.95. Both places were always packed out. If your Westie you will probably remember these places.

Yes and Yes.

Top value. MOUNTAINS of food. No way could you finish a main and a dessert. I ordered 'fish n chips' one night at the Yarraville pub and god four massive fish fillets in beer batter, and about a kilo of chips! Felt like Monty Python when I finished.....

The D'Aguilar Pub.

The best rib eye steaks,massive,thick ,melt in your mouth stuff for under $15.The plate is piled high.

I would recomend it to anyone.

Nothing better than a $10 Mixed Grill that I picked up at some pub in SA a few years ago. Steak, snags, chops, bacon, eggs...and kangaroo. Brilliant!

being from WA and not having "Leagues clubs" When I went to live in Canberra I couldnt believe the meals you could get down at the local leagues club for $5.... and the beers were cheap too.

The Leagues Clubs in Sydney are great for cheap dinners and even cheaper drinkies.
As for pubs, the $4 steaks at Forresters, between the SCG and Central, are good value; although you have to buy a drink to go with it and they're not quite as cheap as club prices.

Finsbury Hotel in Hanson Rd used to have huge meals ...especially scnitzels ..used to overflow the plates and these werent small plates either.

OT: not a pub meal but the Mildura Steak House did $15 steak plates years ago and you could choose the slab of meat... out of a group of 15 truck and transport workers only 1 finished their meal...our eyes were bigger than our bellies

I get a HUGE roast beef and gravey roll, bread, and a kilo of chips, for $7 at my local pub. I can't even finsh half of it. Meals are cheaper in the public bar which is where I eat.

Yep Forresters in Surry Hills, just around the corner. But yeah pricey on the drinks. Used to be 5 bucks.
