How do you cope/manage with it?
who absolutely hates it? how do u get over your fear/anxiety/nerves?

Who thrives on it? what do u do to combat nerves etc

Discuss

I used to get nervous about it with pretty intense performance anxiety. That was when I was thinking alot about what people thought about me when speaking.

Things changed substantially when I focussed instead on what impact I wanted to have on the audience through the delivery of my message rather than on what the judgements of others may or may not have been.

It's hard. It's funny i don't give a fk what people think about me but I still get nervous when I have to stand up and speak.
Probably because its usually about shit I don't give a toss about and just don't want to be there.

There is a drug called propananol (sp) which is a beta blocker. People take this before they speak..it calms the nervous system I believe. Not sure how effective it is.

I used to be really bad but have gotten better as I got older.

Just try and be confident in what you are talking about. Pretend the audience is dumb. Also remember half of them probably aren't paying attention anyway.

used to get so nervous before doing an oral presentation that i wouldnt be able to sleep the night before
that was early in my uni days/back in high school days though. now i only speak on subjects i am competent in so i feel better about it.

Yeah it can be nerve wracking.

A solid preparation if you can do it helps.

Also remember a lot of the audience will probably just drift out anyway.

It sounds trite, but slowing down helps. Slow, deep breaths beforehand. Breathe slowly during. Have planned break points where you can stop, grab a ship of water, and reset.

yep valium or xanax will do wonders but u want to get the dosage right because too much may impact on ur ability to answer questions and focus.
Around 2014 they made xanax a Schedule 8 drug or some shit......Its so ******ed

How hard is is it 2 get a benzo script now ?
People who want to abuze benzoz are gonna find a way to get them but people who need it for anxiety have to jump through a hoop, fill out 2 forms, get insurance and suck a doctors dick. System is ******ed

Never had a problem with it. I get nervous as I suppose everyone does if it is a topic I am not overly familiar with but if I have a general idea what I am talking about then it's fine. Once I start talking all nerves disappear.

As a future teacher I guess it is one of the things I do have to get used to. I remember on my first teaching prac I was nervous as hell before teaching my first lesson. Once I started talking, however, the nerves completely vanished. I guess it helped that I have always been alright with public speaking.

Did it on a regular basis from childhood, part of my evangelical upbringing, it is just what we did before we learned it was supposed to be scary or intimidating.

xanax is incredibly hard to get legitimately.
For those who seriously need it yes it would be frustrating, just like those who have chronic back pain etc and can't get scripts for endone and oxycontin now.

The people who abuse these drugs for recreation purposes have ruined it for those who legitimately need it. Doctors are very reluctant to prescribe it because it so regulated it can cost them. You can blame the media too, who love to hype stuff up.

Ben, if you had seen what I had to go through when I helped a mate withdraw from Benzos, after a massive addiction which lasted 16 years, you might have a different view of stricter controls on the drug. Chemists posturing as psychiatrists ****ed my mate's life. After sleeping on the floor of my living room, in the one bedroom flat I was renting, during nine months of his withdrawal, he went into a state wherein he relived his childhood from the age of four onwards. By this I mean he literally relived every day of his childhood in his mind (or rather, what was left of it), as it happened back then, but in current time. We used to laugh at heroin addicts and their bleating about withdrawal. Hideous drug.

Edit: I have an inkling that benzos have been overtaken by synthetic replacements which don't have the ghastly side effects and rampant addiction attached. Not sure about this though.

Its not an addiction, he/she was dependent on it. They shouldn't be taken every day and there would be tolerance issues anyway. Educate people and give them the choice.
Hope ya friend is better now
