Purchasing a domain name

Anybody know a good mob to go through by which I can purchase a domain name?

I found a mob called HostOnce (check them out, HostOnce.com) and they had all the goods, so I sent an eMail to their sales dept with a couple of questions ... they've never got back to me!

So stuff them, where else can I go? Anybody had a good experience with one?

Thanks for your help!

So what address did ya purchase mate?

And can you tell me how you upload your pages to the new address?

I still have to buy my domain name so I am not sure if I will be able to understand what to do once I have my user name and get to look at the options offered to me.

A few people suggested FTP...?

Mob's purchased www.footypedia.com . He has cloaked that address over his geocities address. You are thinking more along the lines of "web page hosting" which costs an additional extra $'s ontop of the domain name. No matter what Domain name you buy rob, you still upload your files to your goecities etc account.

Oh I understand now, so if I want to remove the ads of virtualave I will still have to pay them the $10 or whatever it is a year to get rid of them?

Yep. Plus, you may get more space and bandwidth when you pay for hosting.

Bandwidth, not actually sure what that means, lol.

Hey mate, you got MSN, might be easier to chat over that.

hawkfan86@hotmail.com
is mine

Sorry mate, no MSN. By bandwidth I mean that a number of free hosts, liek goecities, limits how many page views or how much data one site gets per hour or per month. When the user gets more than they have allocated, you get the page not available messages.

Havent actually had that before on my site. I currently have virtualave. Dont get a huge amount of visitors, probably 500-600 a month.

If so could you email some details on what is actually involved in getting a new host with frontpage extensions, and some info on what that host provides, much appreciated if possible mate.

Thanks

Cheers

Rob, there are thousands of hosts that will have that stuff. I can't narrow one down yet as I don't pay for website hosting. Just do a search on www.altavista.com.au in australia for web hosts and look for what they provide, like ftp access etc.
