How did he go a few years ago when WC weren't much good and he was their go to guy?

I'd classify Lynch as a good ordinary player, he has a role at WC and he does it well. I don't see the point of having to pay for these types of players. Either try to attract quality or take your chances developing your own through the draft, or through delisted or state comp players

Or even keep Cloke and sign Lynch. Think he is unrestricted so West Coast would get nothing, and we'd get him at any price we like on a two year contract, if that is what we are offering.

So what do consider cloke and dawes as ATM? shit terrible players? he's a good player lynch, makes dawes look like an under 9.

Pretty sure we didn't poach Leroy but called him up after he was delisted. In a way it kind of proves my point though that why would you pay to get Lynch on FA when you there are blokes like Lee either delisted or playing VFL who we can pay nothing for. It just seems like a waste to me. Especially when we have a guy like Paine carving it up every week in the VFL who if he improves could conceivably be a better player than Lynch next year anyway.

i was more talking about wages. Just did some stalking on wikipedia and he has a wife and kid + a business + he grew up in WA. Now given that WC are going to be playing finals for the next few year and he has played there his whole career, the only way we convince him to come to Collingwood is if we're paying way too much for him. It's only worth paying too much for a bloke if you know what your going to get is quality - ie. with Luke Ball. You think if Lee Brown was a free agent we would have been looking to poach him

Well Leigh Brown was De-Listed so he would of been a Free Agent Anyway.

You are right he is very well set-up in WA but I am hearing he wants a 2 Year Deal and Eagles don't want to give it to him(Though that can Change) and we come in and Offered that to him

True. However we don't need to sign him as a free agent we can just trade for him.

I'm not understanding the heartburn in this thread. Lynch would be a handy acquisition as a stop gap measure up forward and in the ruck.

For instance if Cloke leaves and we trade for Lynch we'd then have two first rounders, from their we either trade into the draft to get Shaw or use them to gain a mini draft pick and look at Hogan. Though Lynch isnt quite the caliber of Cloke he could fill a role (which is what we were all about in 2010) for 2 years until the likes of Paine, Gault, Witts and hypothetically one of Shaw and Hogan is right to go.

I agree with him being a cancer this season, but I think we've sorely missed his form from last season and that a lot of supporters are neglecting that he was the best contested mark, his work rate and ability to win contests. Great asset to a side when he is on song.

Not too sure to be honest. Could be a handful of reasons, lack of confidence, contract talks, losing the support of fans, family pressure etc We can only hope that he realises his actual worth and resigns, then rebuild for next season - unless he can completely turn himself around next week for finals wishful thinking Sad situation really.
