With the Queensland carnival starting this week i thought people might put forward their horses to watch over the carnival.

I'm going to take Desert War for the Doomben cup into Gold edition for the Stradbroke early on.

I saw Desert War for the first time in flesh this morning and all i can say is what a magnificent looking horse. Massive and looking really good. I can't see it getting beaten over the carnival.

I am also following Rash Promise who was a good third last start first up over the carnival. Bentley Biscuit should continue it's winning ways in the BTC cup before heading to the UK.

I had Mitanni last week and i can't say that i'm suprised that it is now favourite for some of the group races now. Was very impressive winning on saturday. With a few of the southern sprinters out of form this may be his carnival.

Just on Mitanni. Where has he come from? A 7 year old just doesnt smash some group horses like that. Has he had injury worries? My old punting mate at the footy club liked him pre race.

I'm not sure maybe a change of trainer? His last couple of preperations have been really good. He hasn't absolutley come from nowhere he has been in terrific form beating just about everything put in front of him up here. It always seems that a local horse always comes out and wins a few of the big Brisbane races every year. We had Red oog two years back who went on to win group 1's and Undue last year. Both paid long odds when they won the 10,000 and then went on to bigger things. Not to mention Takeover Target who broke the course record that time.
