The other night while having a drink it dawned to me that some of our so called second tier players esp Crowley are coming out of contract end of 2007 and with property prices in perth being higher than Hyde and the circle i jus wonder if we can offer them enough $$$ to stay. I mean looking recently at guys like tazza , belly, Carr and co, is there enough room on the salary cap or is it goodbye to one of Crowley, The Pav or 211 coz they come out of contract come end of season 07...
Personally i would get rid of Gilmore and Walker (nothing against them personally i rate Gilmore over Walker, latter has consistency issues) but i think we need to offer guys like Crowley and 211 some real hard cash (hint 211's manager's comments ) otherwise it will be Simmonds all over again and some off those victorian teams have a lot of good league players they would sacrifce or de-list to get 211's services
I'm just a bit nervous and hearing Pav talk about the crows and this and that about his up bringing in SA everytime he's on radio doesn't make me feel one bit better . I hope Icke and Co in Recruitment are doing what they are paid to do and trying to sign important players

P.S How good was 211's 50-60m kick to Crowley in the forward 50 in the 2nd quarter (gold mate pure gold ;) )

I really don't think Pavlich will be going anywhere in the near future.
I found it ironic that the back page article in the West Aust about Pav wanting to go home came out the week after 6PR made mention of a rumour about Judd going back to Melbourne after the 2007 season. Just like whenever a wc player was caught up in some kind of contraversy with the law it would be quickly followed up by some kind of contraversy about a Fremantle player. Childish ti t-for-tat stuff. I'm just waiting to see if Kerrs latest indescretion will result in something emerging about the Dockers.
BTW, Pavlich said at some point in time he WILL go home. He clarified this by saying it may be before he finishes his football career or it may be after he finishes.

otherwise it will be Simmonds all over again

In the end if a team is prepared to pay a player more than he is worth (to us) and on a longer contract, then so be it. I am glad the club didn't go higher and longer with Simmonds. He has a history of injuries, and is a good honest ruckman, no more.

Do you remember when we bid for Gasper, and the Tiges matched up on the offer? He has been overpaid for many years, and it limits all of their contracts with other players hurting their list, plus it can create ill feeling within the player group.

For Pav to go home requires a massive trade from Adelaide to secure him. Simmonds (or Polak) threatenning to go into the PSD is what killed us, but that won't get him to Adelaide. If Sandi's manager wants him to simply go for the $$$'s and he is prepared to play for the basket cases then it is hard to stop that. It is also how we got MacPharlin. What goes around comes around.

But, for what it is worth, I don't think Pav is going anywhere.
