If you had to give Woosha a mark out of 10 for his performance as a coach and overall leader of the club, in the last year what would you give him??
If it was up to me Id give him an 9/10
I think he's performed VERY well, all things considering. He is a rookie coach and had no real experience as a senior coach as yet. I can only remember maybe 5 times when he has been directly outcoached.
Thoughts???

Why do you expect supporters from other clubs to hold him in high regard, and why does it bother you so much when they don't?

Well I dont expect supporters from other clubs to hold him in high regard. I just cant believe they think he is scum and a low life. To me he's a legend and our original captain courageous and even though i dont expect other supporters to love him I just think its kind of wierd that others dont atleast have some kind of indifference towards him. Why do they hate him so much??? I mean i know he was as tough as nails and dealt out his fair share of blows but cmon....was he that bad to be mentioned on the players you hate the most thread???

Would have to be one of the better 'rookie' coaches of recent years. Is a great motivator, knows how to make the players enjoy their footy, has resurrected the careers of a few hacksand has moulded the gameplan around his players rather than the other way around.
He is sometimes outcoached on gameday (see Hawks game), and there are signs he may be tactically nothing special. But as long as he surrounds himself with the right staff he'll be fine.

Its hard to give him a rating. Who do we measure him up against? Connolly? Cornflakes? Would get 10/10 compared to them (WC had the worst list in years in 2002, yet outperformed two teams with the best young teams in the AFL. Says something, ey?). He's done more than any WC supporter would have expected, so 10/10 is warranted IMO.

Whats this got to do with my original post anyway??

Ok.... I'm guessing something from another thread which I'm not aware of has lead to this question, in which case my rating/analysis seems out of place.

Anyone care to point me in the direction of the original discussion/thread?

Hmmm you raise some interesting points.....
I suppose its not fair to compare him with the likes of Malthouse, Sheedy, Pagan and Mathews as he is only just beginning and the other mentioned coaches have been around for years. I guess if you were going to compare him youd have to compare him with other rookie coachs wouldnt you?
Yes it does say something when u can out perform teams with better lists, when that happnes it just has to be due to some good coaching.

Whatever cyclops! In my eyes he was a hero and a champ! Just because he didnt always play nice doesnt mean he was " gutless strangling king hitter"

he was not gutless... he was as hard as nails!
It would be fair to say that this post from the AFL board would be the inspiration for this thread. Judging from most of your posts you seem to hold opinions of the Eagles by rival clubs' supporters as more important than the Eagles actual performances.

btw like, whatever.

Well yes, I look at oppostion supporters unbiased views on WCE players as more important than an Eagle fan. It gives me more perspective on such matters!

Time to wake up I think. Let me point you in the right direction:

1) Not long after Millane died, Worsfold went up to McGuane and sledged him with words to the effect of, "You belong with your mate Millane'

2) Worsfold, like Libba was tougher than his ability. He was nowhere near as dirty as Libba but even so, rival supporters don't like that.

btw Just for the record, I rate him a 9/10. He wasn't a crap player, but his playing skills were nowhere near as good as his leadership skills.

Really! Well that certainly clears up alot. I had no idea, I guess stuff gets said in the heat of the battle.
I agree with you on your second point, from what i remember he wasnt a brilliant player, more of a leader from what i know and see

Hey!!!! Im only 19! I would have been only 7 or 8 when all this happened!!! How am I supposed to know what happened all the way back then?? I always thought that victorians hated woosha because he captained a successfull club that beat the VICS. Tall poppy syndrome or something!
Geez!!!!!!

Some might suggest it best not to defend so feircely incidents that by your own admission you did not see, and have no real recollection of.

I say nothing :)

Actually, for what it's worth, I don't really see the point of arguing with any posts that go against our team. We are what we are, we love our boys for it, and its really of no concern to opposition supporters. But, with the internet being what it is, as soon as you come across a post that even slightly criticises one of our players, there'll always be a chorus of pointless objection. Ahh well, what can you do about it huh?

I love my team. F*ck what anyone else thinks :)

Your probably right, but up untill now I never knew all the other stuff that Bunsen Burner just told me! From now on I wont, i'll just accept it cause its prolly fair enough. Just like we all hate Greg Williams for stealing the brownlow of Peter Matera. Oh well, you learn something new each day!

Let me put it this way, if Whoosha never played for the Eagles I would hate him too :D

As a player he was tough as nails with fantastic leadership skills which is why he was our captain for 8 years was it? He was never a super skilled player but in a hundred years time when the Eagles make their Team of the Century, you will find Worsfold on a half back flank and yes he would be the captain of the side!

As a coach, he brings leadership and respect. He respects players, the players respect him back. He is a great motivator and makes the players really want to play well for him. Tactically he goes alright, sometimes he gets beaten but other times, like on Sunday, he will get the upper hand. A lot of tactics though come to a coach after years of coaching.

Overall he has been a revelation for our club. In Whoosha I Trust.

Just like Jod said, if Woosha wasnt with the eagles then we'd probably have him as one of our more hated players.

As a coach, he's drilled the team into a unit, the players never back down and the respect is evident. He's done a great job but still gets outcoached at times. (WC vs Freo last season is a big example)
