We are on holidays in Vic as of Sat (god help me) and I have never been to a Crows away game! we are gonna be staying at Ballarat. I will have to catch public transport as the other half will be using the car for sightseeing. Do the trains/buses go straight to the "g" like our footy bus???? And if i decided to go can i choose to get seats near other crows fans?

Thanx in advance

just get off at punt rd. Is a 2 minute walk from there. As it's a game vs Melbourne, there will be plenty of seats available. Your best bet is to sit near the crows cheer squad, but no doubt there will be patches of crows supporters dotted throughout the ground.

I should clarify... I've been melbournised... Get off at Richmond station (on punt rd)

Well unlike Football Park the G actually has great public transport infrastructure.

Now the question is are you meaning from the city or Ballarat ?? If from Ballarat then unless things have changed then you cant, you will have to get a V line train into melbourne and get on the Epping or Hurtsbridge line and get off at Jolimont. The other alternative is to get the tram from Flinders street, I am pretty sure all trams that go along flinders street service the G (only a short walk) alternatively you can walk from Flinders Street station (about 10-15 mins top).

Spot on.

Get the V line to Melbourne, this will leave you at Spencer Street. Either get on the Epping or Hurstbridge train to Jollymont or walk to Flinders (1 minute) and tram to the G.

You'll have plenty of choice for seating, could hang near the cheersquad, or bask in the outer like myself (something nice about being behind enemy lines).

I'm going to the G also, but I've never been allowed to sit anywhere but where the ****head ticket seller says you're gonna sit. How do you get to sit near the cheersquad??? Ive asked before and have never been allowed. ...I hate that overrated colosseum. I tell them I don't care how much the tickets cost and still all I've ever been given is shite seats.

The only time I've ever had to have a reserved seat at the MCG is for finals. For home and away games, then the ground is predominantly GA, and reserved sections are clearly marked.

Just try to sit as close to the goals as possible. Great southern stand is unnecessary as you will be miles up and don't need to be... It's pretty much just trial and error. I'm sure you will find something. Thinking about heading down, but may be able to score a members ticket... Fingers crossed. Good view from there...

The last time I went to the MCG (vs Collingwood when Burton did his knee) I just got a GA ticket at the gate and asked the ticket seller which end the Crows cheersquad was at and they told me what gate to go to and I easily found them. The first couple of rows were sort of "reserved" for the supporters group who were doing the banner though.

That's exactly what I did for the Demons game last year and just asked the ticket chick which gate to enter.

Tickets online look to be $44 for adults, are they any cheaper at the gate on the day (I can't remember from last year) $44... freakin expensive

Yes they are heaps cheaper than that if you get them from the gate. I think the AFL tries to maxmise profits by selling the premium seated tickets online so many unsuspecting people get burnt by buying over priced tickets thinking that's all that is available.

You wont pay anymore than about $25 at the gate provided you are not picky about where you sit. Last year general admin at the G on gameday was about $21

edit I just found the pricing for last year

There is a difference of around $20+ between booking them early and buying them at the gate.
