Does anyone think that hawthorn will fold in the year 2007

No I think if worst comes to worse they will be relocated to Launceston Tasmania.

If we are going to have a 10 team competition then it could be possible.

Here are a few teams in financial trouble.

Richmond
Carlton
Melbourne
Western Bulldogs
Kangaroos

You do understand to fold you have to be in financial trouble. You have been watching football for more than a few weeks, haven't you?

Not even close. At least 50.

The rest are Taswegians.

Nah but Melbourne will fold and Hawthorn will repackage themselves as the Melbourne Hawks out of spite.

These sort of conversations point to a serious disorder.

I'll bet against that.

well if the same consortium get the TV rights to AFL again when they are up for renewal, the contract will state (as it does now) that there must b 16 Teams in the competition...taking it past 2007...so ur answer is a definite NO! :p

The AFL wldnt b able to allow teams to fold until such time that they are free from such contractual obligations!!

as much as the AFL wants to expand into other states, have 2 teams in NSW or Qld, clubs will be vulnerable, but the fact they know they need more support in those states for it to work. I thikn itll be 10 years before anything happens, and even if it does, maybe it will b 2 extra teams, not at the expense of a melbourne side. and on that note, Tassie deserve a go in the afl too i think, they get good turn outs at yorke park, make that all seater and ud get 20,000 each week. thats small for us, but in rugby theyd love that

Yep Id agree with that QLD and NSW wise but not Tassie due the fact there are all ready grass roots there unlike the relatively new QLD and NSW (excluding the Riverina area)
Also Tassie isnt dominated by Rugby League or Union unlike NSW and QLD.

As for how many people there are in launceston well Disgustipated and Fred answered that one :)

Seriously I think there would enough people to support the Hawks in Tassie even if they dont live in Launceston and there would be still some Victoria Hawk supporters after a relocation as well.

I have seen a team running around in brown and gold but assumed Hawthorn I remembered had folded and their colours had been taken over by the Kambalda Under 13s

Watch it - those Kambalda boys are a rugged lot.
