Getting close to Le Mans this year and all of the pages dedicated to old men in expensive toys that I follow in my socials are starting to post again, wondering if anybody else pauses to think about obscure racing cars from a bygone era or if it's just me?
One of my favourite sounds is the LS7.R V8 in the GT1 version of the Corvette C6.R. These things were insanely loud even over all the other cars in the GT field.
And one of my favourite looking cars ever is the Mercedes CLK GTR/LM from the late 90s, arguably the GTR with the V12 sounds better than the V8 powered LM, but videos of the GTR in full noise are very hard to find. Not sure why but the look just does it for me. No it's not the same car that Mark Webber flipped at Le Mans, that was next year's one.
What racing cars or bikes from days gone by did you find aesthetically or aurally pleasing?
