Fantastic that the boys are getting back with Zack! If this means the end of Audioslave,i'm all for it!........KILLING IN THE NAME OF......!!!!!!!!!!!

Supposedly it's just for a few concerts, but I think it will lead to a proper re-formation.

they broke up over some pretty stupid stuff in the grand scheme of things (Zack didn't want Renegades released as he felt they didn't do justice to the original tracks - personally I disagree :)) - and the world really needed a RATM over the last 5 years or so.

In this day and age a band like Rage is increasingly relevant.

I love Zack but he is a tool. Fancy leaving a band like that to pursue "spoken word projects" - no one was interested in his poetry without the chops and riffs baby!! ANGER IS A GIFT

We all knew this was going to happen - lets here the songs about Cheney!!

At this point it's only for one show as headlines of the Coachella Festival in California, so I'm not getting too far ahead of myself, but I pray that it leads to something long term. If I get to see them play Sleep Now in the Fire and No Shelter live I'll be able to die a happy man.

After seeing them do "Bulls On Parade" outside that Democratic Party Convention on DVD I want to see them do that!

Yes please.

Great music. Great riffs. And what they sing about is great because they are passionate about it and it brings out the anger, but essentially their whole G8 whingefest persona is a load of nonsense.

Essentially spell out why:

A. it's merely a "persona"

and

B. Why it's a load of nonsense

Or take your comment back.

Hear, Hear - how can you divorce a band like that from it's politics! Not many love songs in their repertoire!

If anything concrete came out of this past these few gig (s?) I'd just about cream myself.:D

They were never going to replace RATM, but Audioslave are a great band in their own right. The best singer on the planet fronting one of the best bands.

Hopefully this is true, so Cornell can go and join a better band. I don't mind RATM, but it'd be awesome if Cornell was part of a more adventurous, less commercial band.

Zach certainly has plenty of stuff to whinge/yell about these days.

Persona shmersona. You know what I mean. Let's not split hairs here.

They are conspiracy theorists. Everything they sing about is anti establishment. I find this sort of thinking and behaviour ridiculous.

I also find people like you who either think they make a big difference or lap up their views wearing a Che Gueverra t-shirt comical.

I like their music a lot. I'm happy that they're angry about these issues because it comes out in the music. But I don't agree with this ridiculous chip on the shoulder stance that some people take. Yes, the world is a big bad dodgy place, but get over it.

And don't give me this "take the comment back" bollocks. It's merely an opinion. Get over yourself Rick. Still upset that you need to hunt me down and thow a tirade of childish abuse at me? Going to tell me I have AiDS? Going to tell me my kids are fathered by someone else?

Take the power back Ricky.

Are you saying you don't connect with what they are singing about at all? That as long as you kept the music and the passion, you could substitute the lyrics for anything else and you would still love it?

Strange.

Funded UNITE, give part funding to the publication of the New Republic, music reaches more people than Green Left Weeklys mate!

Indivusally there might be things I connect with. But I don't even closely connect with their blanket attitudes of conspiracy and underdog. It's fruitloop material.

And what's tragic is the amout of middle class white kid tossers I've seen cruising around in Che Gueverra shirts (RATM ones or not) who probably don't have a real understanding of who he is.

Pretty much.

These guys are just the new Dylan - target an audience of youth angst. Not exactly a new concept. Young people often get drawn into to these idealistic and fanciful views until they mature a bit and realise why the world is ****ed, that it can't be changed, so just get on with it.

And it's not like any bands I'm going to be listening to are going to have rnb style lyrics. I'd have to seriously reconsider to listening to such an awesome band if it had such pre pubescent dumb he loves me loves me not lyrics.

Actually I'd question anyone who likes it just because of their ideals. Music is much more about feel and actually music rather than lyrics.

It's actually the music and not the lyrics that send shivers down people's spines. Sure, there's lyrics that people love and identify with but that is because the music has presented them in that fashion.

I'm with BB, love RATM but couldn't care less about what they're singing about and disagree with most things they rant about. The lyrics could be about fairies and pixies for all I would care.

Totally agree. I have a few friends and the first thing they'll talk about a song they love is the lyrics. A lot of my favourite songs i wouldn't know all the words or bother to find out the deeper meaning behind them. Very rarely adds anything to the music for me.

so if they were to sing about Killiing Jews in the name of the Master race it would not make any difference to you - what bullocks!

Within reason should have been assumed knowledge.

OK I accept that its ear candy but RATM have funded activism and in these print barren times the lyrics might alert people to Malcolm X, or the campaign to free Mumia Abu Jamal or Martin Luther King or the Plight of the Wet backs etc etc.

So just because you have no idea what the lyrics are or think it is a purging of middle class angst and the revolution just being another T Shirt away does not mean that they may inspire activism in others - particularly now the kiddies don't read book but TxT 1 another LOL

BB what would you like them to sing about:

Bull Markets on Parade?

Know your stock prices?

Killing Islamofascists?
