MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-playing Game).

Gets deathly addictive once you get the hang of playing the game. It's a bit like your Final Fantasies or your Zeldas where you would have to fight creatures & level yourself up - except there are also other players participating.

If you want to play/try out this great game go to the Australian Ragnarok website (link is mentioned above); register up your account, download the game installation file (650mb), and have fun!

The International (USA) server used to be free to play. Now it's "pay-to-play". The price is $17 AUD to play for one month. But there are other deals there to play 3 months, 6 months, yearly, etc.

Yeah 45/33 level Swordsman here. Used to play awhile ago on iRO servers before it went P2P... found out Aus servers week ago.. hooked again!

That's the spirit. :)

I haven't tried AusRO yet. But I'm a 77/56 Alchemist on p2p iRO.

Nah. RO is lame I hate the kiddie graphics. for a better mmorpg try RYL or to a lesser extend HB. SWG is a kickass rpg too and well there is so many good ones out there no one should be forced to play RO, might as well go play Fairy Land.

Naw RO owns all MMORPGS. Fairy Land is a great game as well.

Screenshots.

For any enthusiasts about this game and haven't tried it yet - here are a few snapshot samples.

Nah. Look at the lame graphics. It's like Snes game. Check out starwarsgalaxies.com for some real mmorpg screenshots.

Enjoyed it before one had to pay to play.

My friend keeps nagging me to sign up on the AusRO server and play, i shall do so soon.

Always wanted to try RO, was wondering if any you guys could give a newbie a helping hand?

Ive made my account on the ausro irc server, but am unsure how to proceed. I understand i have to download 3 files, something called kRO, Saskray and then the ausro client? Is this correct? What order should i install these in and is there anything i else i need to to get started?

AusRO IRC Server? I would assume that serve you're talking about is a private server made by a customized fan. Private servers are very unreliable because:

1) Fans who own private RO servers tend to configure the system around quite bit in order to try and make the game simplier and stuff. Which is a big disadvantage because they don't know excatly what they're doing and serious mild crashes could occur.

2) Setting up to play private servers is a very difficult procedure where you have to download a fair number of individual files and they don't quite provide a step-by-step method to do so.

3) Private servers don't have all the features of the maps, the monsters, the items, etc. compared to the official servers.

I would recommend you to use Australia's official Ragnarok Online server which is at http://www.ragnarok.com.au (Link above). Both the registration & the client to install is very straight-forward, compared to the custom-made private servers.

Oh Ok, i googled ausRO and must have got confused along the way!

On the official site you posted it says that "You will be able to enjoy a free 15-day trial upon registration." Does this come into effect only after it moves out of beta? Or is it pay to play right now?

No at the moment it's free.

The 15-day-trial becomes active once RO Australia decides to switch to pay-to-play status. :)

I'd assume prices for pay-to-play RO Australia would be the same prices as International RO:

$17 for one month

$32 for three months

$55 for half-year

$100 for year

All AUD

The above isn't true. I've admined on a few private servers for different games and they've all been far better than any offical server. The only thing that makes a private server worse than an offical one is sometimes you get dumbass admins and the hosters can't usually run a server as fast as a company who gets paid to do it but don't bag private servers they're normally better because they're community run and the point is to have a better game.
