No, they do open heart surgery without using whole blood when requested by the patient.

As good as endone? I had heart surgery 3 years ago. The endone for 2 months after that made it totally worthwhile.

No. You can use your own blood if needed.

Packed blood is rarely used for orthopaedic surgery. Salvaged blood is generally used. These days not much blood is used for surgery in general.
