Was seriously disappointed with the AFL tonight. What's the point of having one game for the week, and having this useless game for the first game of the year?

And why didn't Gold Coast get a week break after facing Carlton last year?

Because the AFL wanted to showcase the new team/Sydney expansion, so they had it as a stand alone game so people would be talking about it during the week leading up to it...

And why didn't Gold Coast get a week break after facing Carlton last year?

No one got an extra week off this year... Sydney and GWS played last week (NAB cup) and this week and they now have a 2 week break for their next game (Round 2). On the other hand the other 16 teams have a 2 week break since their last NAB cup game and play next week.
