Thoughts?
What you said made complete sense. However, with the bright red shorts up against the black and dark red jersey, I don't think there was a half-clash. But in the future, to avoid situations of kit clashes, they should have a lenient light vs dark policy (like the AFL one except without the extremely strict rules).

I agree that they should have worn white shorts, but I am more annoyed with the wanderers. If you wear a hooped shirt you should be required by law to wear hooped socks.

There was absolutely no clash in that match, what was worn was fine and was only done because the Wanderers were in their complete home kit (even though black shorts would work better with the home shirt, they chose to go with white shorts with home and black with away).

Being a first year club, the Wanderers probably didn't get much of a choice when it came to anything apart from colours and basic shirt design. As has been seen the shirt is a stock template just in their colours. Give it a year or so and I am sure striped socks will appear in the design.

Ok fair enough, there wasn't a clash, in the sense that it was clear who was who. But I disagree that what was worn was fine because it just looked unprofessional. It's the kind of scenario you would get in a local junior footy game. The A-League is up against two great football codes throughout Australia - the NRL and the AFL. The AFL is one of the most professionally run competitions here in Australia, as is the NRL (ecspecially now with their nice new logos). The A-league needs to look as professional as these two leagues and making the matches aesthetically attractive would be a nice touch. Otherwise it looks quite amateurish.

And on a separate note, I noticed that the Heart v Mariners game at AAMI Park the other day started two or three minutes later than scheduled. While this may seem trivial, have a look at the AFL Grand Final every year, in fact everyt AFL game, and notice how EVERYTHING runs on schedule. Everything leading up to the first bounce happens when the AFL dictates it to and the ball is slammed into the ground right on schedule. Again it seems trivial but it just adds to the professionalism of everything which I think the A-League lacks.

Yeah Imach mate I'd watch for cops on the Bruce and Pacific Highways if you're driving there. They'll be out in force, thats for sure.

Especially that undercover cop with that grey ****ing commodore.

I saw an undercover Ford Territory when driving past the service station precinct in Caboolture the other week, I slowed right down.

I bet they're frothing at the mouth at the thought of dishing out speeding fines to teenagers during Schoolies.

No good reason to be driving through Caboolture.

I have to disagree. In soccer it's a very, very, very common sight to have the shorts scenario that you suggest is unprofessional. But I suppose in soccer, in international soccer, clash kits actually do their job by being a huge contrast to everything else because they don't cling to club history as tightly as we do in Aussie Rules.

Ugh. It's 2AM. Not sure if that made sense.

Yeah there's always a undercover grey Commodore on the Bruce Highway, I see it a lot. Yesterday, I was about to change lanes to get around this truck. Just as I done it, I seen the Commodore speed up behind me and it was right up my arse. As soon as I went back into the left lane he flew past me going about 130, so he must of been chasing someone.

Its pretty funny that the
Only traditions epl sides keep is 1 or 2 colors. The design changes every year or 2nd year

Yes, I have noticed with European football, club colours take precedent over design, which they fit to whatever new template their kit manufacturer has produced that year. Yet still, some clubs still follow some small but, distinct design traditions; some even apply to away/third kits.

For instance, Barca will always have a red and blue vertical pattern. Celtic will have white and green hoops. Arsenal will have white sleeves, etc.

It's happening a lot more today in the AFL, though - the manufacturers altering designs to their fit their templates. Look at the shit piping A****s applied to Hawthorn and Collingwood; the changes ISC have made this year to those clubs; Reebok and their side panels on Adelaide.

At least in Europe, if the kit sucks, you have next year to look forward to!
