Well everybody, we're 5 days out from the Federal Election. This thread is designed to be a place for everyone to have a round table discussion regarding the parties involved. You don't have to reveal who you'll vote for if you don't want to, just show pros and cons for EACH politician.

One rule. Can we not have any "KRudd is a ****" or "Tony Abbot can **** off with his budgie smugglers". This is a legit and meaningful discussion.

Sadly I think the Libs will win and stuff the country with policies that are antiquated.

I'll state it now I have already voted (working on election day at a polling place outside my electorate, so it saved me the hassle of doing an absentee vote) and that vote was not for Tony's party.

p.s. Everyone remember on election day to vote early and vote often.

Look after watching Q&A tonight I now hold a slither of hope. Tonight I saw a Prime Minister for the first time during this campaign, it was refreshing to see. Every question was answered, and the response to marriage equality was spot on. I think the lower house will be close, but if the coalition is to form government just watch out for the senate. If the ALP and Greens somehow get the balance of power there will be an election called within months...if Abbott keeps his promise of trying to remove the price on carbon and the ETS.

Also if you are unsure where you fit or who to vote for:

ABC Vote Compass

"Vote Compass is an educational tool developed by a non-profit group of political scientists and hosted by the ABC. Answer a short series of questions to discover how you fit in the Australian political landscape."

Damn. Well there goes that plan.

As the above cartoon says, you can vote for someone else and perhaps they might win, but more likely your vote will end up with one of the larger parties, so if you vote for someone small, know where their preferences go (aka read the how to vote leaflets on the way in).
