I'm pretty sure the fan on my computer has broken so I'm pretty much screwed. The computer itself turns on etc but it's making a bad sound at the back which has me thinking it could blow up any second. So Phoney will barely be on here until the I can be bothered (Read: Afford) to fix it.

This has happened to me before, try this.

Take off the cover, not sure on apple if this can be done?, If not, just do your best. When its turned off, get a can of compressed air and spray the fan and parts around it.

It worked for me, its worth a shot.

Fans have a limited life, and will eventually stop working. One mighta just decided it had had enough. If so, just find out if it is 120mm or 80mm take out the 4 screws and for $10 you can have another one in there. Easy.
