Was going to point out that could be taken the wrong way, then realised that that could also be taken the wrong way.

Why does this make for a reply?
'If you're not in favour of political correctness, you're by default an individual without empathy'

How on earth do the two get thrown into the same basket?
Anyway, no point having this discussion here as they get cut and binned into the random discussion thread :)

It's where it belongs!

I bet you do.
Most decent people don't care if a particular word/term is employed as long as it's delivery and intent is honest.
Any word can be 'offensive' if the intent from the deliverer, is designed and delivered in a manner to belittle or demean...............even mate.

Then you have those people that insist you call them by their desired pronoun, because to do otherwise causes offence.
There's even a country where it's a law that you have to do this.

Did mention on this board some time ago that after a meeting, I left addressing the two women I had met with as 'ladies'
They were apparently offended by this.
At the risk of stepping over the line here. I remember being mildly shocked when I first moved to Queensland a fairly long time ago, when my young Murri neighbors would refer to each other as "Kunta Kinte" or "******" when taking the piss out of each other. It all comes down to who says it and how it's delivered.

I think it's like Harker said, it's the intent behind the words. When I said guys, I wasn't even thinking it was exclusive and I know it did not offend the two women in the team as we get on well outside of work as well.

The person calling everyone on our floor out is one of those ultra PC people and I am terrified of being in a conversation or meeting with her as fighting a PC battle is her favorite thing and the buzz words like sexist, racist, misused of pronouns etc is something that triggers HR as we are a equal opportunity workplace. It's like working with Thy.

The safest thing to do is just shut up

Just turn around and say “I’m offended that you’re offended” and leave it at that.

There needs to be an uprising, I’m convinced it’s all because of how kids are brought up these days - not just parenting but being fully connected to the world. It’s created a cocoon of self righteousness where anything that’s not positive or safe is suddenly bad.

Can’t let the kids go down to the park on their own, can’t let them get dirty, can’t let them have the idea of failure of not winning something or failing a baseline test in grade 3.

It’s out of control

Fellow??? is not what I posted. Censors wont even let you get your point across anymore.

written, spoken & authorised by someone who has never been systematically villified, lived as a minority in society or couldnt give a **** about either - for anyone complaining about this so called politically correct world read "why can't I abuse and bully anyone I want like the good old days?" ...........do us and yourself a favour and grow up......

Sorry Thy you’ve got my statement wrong....there are things to be offended about no doubt but there are a crap load of people out there that get offended by nothing and in a lot of cases has absolutely nothing to do with them.

Case in point above about someone getting offended in the office about a boss greeting their staff in the morning....fk off

I guess my point is no-one knows another person's personal situation or history and why they might be offended, hurt or traumatised by something we may consider minor..........

Agree. Slanderous, defamatory and insulting assumptions based on what seems to be some pretty flimsy evidence.

May be safe but then you're also allowing yourself to be dictated to by something you know to be wrong.
Extend our outrage and offence, out to the endth degree and no one will ever speak with one another again.
We'll all just nestle to nice, safe and warm cocoons never transform into butterflies, and never learn how to fly. How shit would that be? :)

EDIT: And now the word sh!t is deemed offensive on this board? F....M...D

you don't get to choose who you think deserves your empathy any more.......that's your struggle these days......of the minuscule amount you seem to have
