Could anyone please lend this almost computer illiterate person a hand please?

My computer is new, so I doubt that it`s a fault with it, but whenever I play You tube etc., I never have any sound. The sound works just fine with all other things. Is there something I`m missing that I should do when I play the videos?

If you open several you-tube videos at a time, sometimes they don't play sound.
